Week 8 has flown by.
Kapa Haka practices are coming together ready for their first performance on Friday night at our Matariki Whanau evening.
The year 1/2 finished the week last week doing a Science experiment with milk and food colouring.
They had to put three different types of food colouring into a bowl of milk, then mix it around with detergent and it made a rainbow pattern in the milk.
Today St Francis tamariki investigated patterns. They did two-, three-, and four-colour patterns. They were able to guess which colour would come next to grow their pattern. We created new colours for the pattern.
They also celebrated finishing their literacy "Milo's Surprise" book, with a birthday party for Milo! They made animal masks to wear to the party. They had popcorn, ate animal biscuits, played pass the parcel and turtle, and danced!

A group of year 6 boys attended the Rosmini College open day.

Another week has flown by (can't believe we are nearly half way through the year already),
We have welcomed some more new pupils and some visiting ones too.
Today was Pink Shirt day and most of the children wore something pink.
By wearing pink, we make a visible commitment to showing kindness in every interaction. At St. Leo’s, we believe kindness isn't just the absence of conflict; it is an active choice to be a "bucket filler" and a constant source of encouragement. By turning our empathy into action, we demonstrate that kindness is our greatest superpower.
We also held our cross country races today at Mt Cambria. It was a beautiful day for it and everyone did really well.
Congratulations to the children getting baptised on Sunday.
A big thank you to BlueSky Community Trust, as well as Te Whangai Trust, for supplying us with plants for our gardens. We get these plants free to recycling all our paper rubbish. Each bin earns points towards free plants.

Another week of great learning and experiences.
This week was Road Safety week so a lot of learning about that has happened and finished with Waka Kotahi coming in and teaching the children what to do around road works etc and how to be safe on the street.
Year 6 had their last water wise for now, there will be more sessions in term 4.
Today we had a lunch time sausage sizzle, thanks to Greg, Nick and Candice for their help.
Kapa Haka practice has resumed and the children were very enthusiastic.
The whole school attended midday mass.
The year 4 - 6 children did garden to table. While one group made a delicious Apple Cinnamon Cake the rest went out and did a big garden tidy up.
We wish all the Mums a happy Mothers Day on Sunday.
Will hopefully add some more photos next week.
