Construction and Family play continue to be the main topics of interest for the children. Sadly this month we farewelled one of my long term families who are starting a new adventure out of Auckland, their parting gift to celebrate their last day with us was a fun game of ten pin bowling!
Things have been a little quiet lately with spaces to fill but we still manage to fill our days with regular outings and social interactions with others.

Last week we had a trip to the strawberry fields, unfortunately some of the strawberries got a little squashed etc but instead of throwing them away we used them to make some jam. Today we enjoyed that jam on some freshly made scones for our lunch!

The children have been showing a great interest in baking recently. Baking with young children offers a bunch of developmental benefits, including boosting their fine motor and math skills through measuring and mixing. It also helps with language development, introduces basic science concepts, and encourages creativity. Plus, it builds confidence, teaches patience, promotes healthy eating habits, and is a great way for families to bond and work together!

Thank you Sam for your amazing review. Tylers absence is definitely noticed and he is missed greatly by all his friends! This is what Sam had to say -
I am so grateful for the care Rachel provided for our family. She looked after Tyler from just 6 months old and Jake from 2 years old, and from the very beginning we felt completely at ease leaving our boys with her.
She cared for our children as if they were her own, creating a warm, nurturing, and safe home environment where they felt secure and happy. Both boys absolutely loved going to her place each day, which speaks volumes. Rachel has such a calm, patient, and caring nature, and she builds genuine connections with the children in her care.
Rachel is fantastic with active kids and made sure they were always engaged and stimulated. They enjoyed regular adventures to the beach and playground, plenty of outdoor play, and age-appropriate activities that supported their development. She encouraged their curiosity, independence, and confidence, while also teaching kindness and respect.
Communication was always great, and we were kept informed about their days, milestones, and any little updates. It gave us such peace of mind knowing they were not only safe, but loved, encouraged, and having fun.
We truly couldn’t have asked for better home-based childcare and would highly recommend Rachel to any family looking for someone trustworthy, experienced, and genuinely passionate about caring for children.

Lots of fun exploring in the forest this morning. The children enjoyed working together building, creating, and enjoying imaginative play while further developing their gross motor skills.

This week all of our regular activities restarted for the year including Party Kingdom on Mondays, Mainly music on Tuesdays and playgroup of Wednesdays. These outings provide lots of opportunities for social interactions, gross motor development, music and movement and much more! We also enjoyed down time at home relaxing, creating and bug hunting.

Even though it’s been a short week we have filled it with lots of fun including a trip to the library, a clean up after the stormy weather, trips to parks including the library playground, Cabeleigh, Kaukapakapa and Muriwai, along with relaxing afternoons playing with water play and frozen flower ice muffins.
