As part of our new inquiry-based project, Enclosures, we have been exploring the children’s growing interest in hide-and-seek games, building tents and creating cosy spaces to hide under and inside. To support this curiosity, we introduced a collection of simple cardboard boxes — and the possibilities have been endless!

The children have been incredibly creative, transforming the boxes into tall buildings, aeroplanes, tunnels and little houses of their own. Some children enjoyed climbing in and crawling through the spaces, while others used markers and crayons to decorate and colour different areas of the boxes.

Through this play, the children are developing problem-solving skills, creativity, cooperation and spatial awareness, all while having so much fun together. It has been wonderful to watch their imaginations come to life and see how something as simple as a box can inspire such rich learning experiences.

Our Teacher’s Retreat was a meaningful time of learning, reflection and connection. Together, we shared ideas, strengthened our skills and grew as a team — all with the shared goal of creating the best environment for the children and families we serve.
