📺 Riverina on 1News! 🎥✨
There was a little extra excitement at Riverina School this morning as the 1News team joined us to film a story about our move to screen free learning in our junior classes.
And what we are seeing is pretty incredible.
Since making the change, we’re noticing exciting growth in our tamariki’s self regulation, problem solving, collaboration and critical thinking. Perhaps one of the best outcomes of all has been seeing children rediscover the simple joy of play. Creating games, negotiating with each other, solving problems together, using their imaginations and finding new ways to learn and connect.
The results and observations so far have been outstanding, and we’re really excited to continue gathering insights as this approach becomes embedded in our junior school. 📚🧩🧠
A huge well done to Mrs Vincer and our Pīwakawaka tamariki, who did Riverina incredibly proud in front of the cameras today! 💛
Watch this space… there’s plenty more to come! 👀📺

That’s a wrap on another wonderful international student experience at Riverina School! 🇳🇿🇨🇳
On Friday, we held a special leaving ceremony for our international students, marking the end of their time with us at Riverina. Today, they’re off on their next adventure, spending a week exploring Christchurch and Queenstown before heading home to China.
It has once again been an absolute privilege welcoming these students into our school, our classrooms and our Riverina whānau. 💙
Our international student programme is about so much more than learning. It’s about building friendships, sharing cultures and creating connections that reach well beyond the gates of Riverina School.
A huge thank you to our staff, students and families for making our visitors feel so welcome and ensuring their time with us has been such a positive and memorable experience.
Safe travels to our students as they explore more of beautiful Aotearoa before heading home. ✈️
And this certainly isn’t goodbye to international education at Riverina. We’re already looking forward to welcoming our next groups in February and July 2027! 🌏❤️
再见 — Zàijiàn! Until we meet again!

An incredible gift to our Riverina School community!
This morning, we were incredibly fortunate to receive a very generous donation of more than $2,000 worth of stationery and school supplies from The Warehouse and The Warehouse Group.
These resources will go directly into supporting our tamariki and ensuring our students have access to the tools they need to learn, create and thrive at school.
The timing of this donation could not be better. At our Board meeting on Monday evening, we began discussing a body of work focused on how Riverina School can continue to support our families and whānau beyond the traditional areas of reading, writing and maths. We want to continue looking at practical ways we can remove barriers and make a meaningful difference for the families within our community.
So, there is something pretty special about receiving this incredible donation just days later. 💙
On behalf of the Riverina School Board, our staff, our whānau and, most importantly, our tamariki, we extend a huge thank you to The Warehouse Group and The Warehouse for their generosity and commitment to supporting local communities.
A very special thank you also goes to Vivian, Key Account Manager, who personally delivered all of the stationery to our school this morning.
More than $2,000 worth of supplies is a significant contribution, and every single item will be put to good use.
What an incredible act of generosity. Thank you for backing our tamariki and our Riverina School community. ❤️
Ngā mihi nui,
Bryce Mills
Principal
