The staff and students extend a heartfelt thank you to our whānau for their incredible support at our Night Market. Together, we raised an amazing $6,700 towards our end-of-year EOTC activities.

Your collective effort created a wonderful evening filled with delicious food, great conversations, and meaningful connections. It was fantastic to see past, present, and future students coming together to share in this special event.

To the whānau and community of Avondale Intermediate,

In light of recent government announcements discontinuing the legal requirement for school boards to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the Avondale Intermediate Board firmly reaffirms our unwavering commitment to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all aspects of our governance and practices.

Avondale Intermediate School will continue to adhere to our local tikanga and maintain the integrity of Māori values within our school. Te Tiriti remains the foundation of our governance, not because it is mandated, but because it is our moral, ethical, and constitutional responsibility to do so.

Regardless of any changes to government directives or amendments to the Education and Training Act 2020, these principles will continue to guide our school. They are essential to the wellbeing, identity, and success of all our tauira, and their continuation is non-negotiable.

We stand firmly by the relationships we have built with our tauira, our whānau, our hapori, and mana whenua. While we acknowledge the legislative changes, we will not compromise the partnerships and trust that underpin the strength of our school community.

The Avondale Intermediate Board strongly urges the Minister of Education, Erica Stanford, to reinstate the clause ensuring school boards give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a guiding framework that is foundational to an equitable, inclusive, and higher achieving education system.

Ngā mihi maioha,
Avondale Intermediate Board of Trustees and Principal
