A few photos of our day.
Today we spent time in the garden spotting things in the trees, using our imaginations while dressing up, building amazing creations with the blocks, and getting busy at the carpentry table.

We showed off our cricket skills, had lots of hula hoop fun, explored the light board, and enjoyed a day full of fun, just how we like it.

I wonder what adventures we will get up to tomorrow.

Another great day at Busy Minds enjoying what we do best, playing while we learn.

Today we enjoyed spending lots of time outside in the sunshine, as well as exploring and being creative inside.

There was fun in the sandpit, swinging in the barrel swing, building with construction toys, riding around in the trailer being pulled by our friends, sweeping out the Hobbit house and having fun in the mud kitchen, along with playing chase.

At Busy Minds, we love these simple moments. Children having time to play, explore, laugh with their friends, follow their interests and just enjoy being children.

Don't forget about Pyjama Day tomorrow- Friday 12th June :)

The freedom to be children
Here at Busy Minds, there is nothing we love more than giving children the freedom to simply be children, to explore, create, discover, take risks, work alongside each other, and most importantly… have fun.

But behind every moment of play, there is purpose.
Everything we do at Busy Minds has been carefully thought about. Our environments are intentionally created, our conversations are intentional, and our teaching is intentional, while still allowing children the space, time, and freedom to lead their own learning.

Take something as simple as a swing
Many people see “just a swing” but we see so much more.
We see children:
Building confidence as they challenge themselves to go higher
Developing perseverance as they practise again and again to be able to swing
Strengthening their bodies through balance, coordination, and movement Exploring mathematical concepts, high, low, fast, slow, up and down
Problem-solving, communicating, negotiating turns, and supporting each other
Real learning happens through real experiences.
This is why our environment includes things like our mud kitchen, with real mud, real mess, and real opportunities to explore. Children mix, measure, create, imagine, collaborate, and test their ideas. They are scientists, designers, builders, storytellers, and problem-solvers.
Loose parts are also a huge part of our Busy Minds programme. Unlike toys that have one set purpose, loose parts can become anything a child imagines. A piece of wood might become a bridge, a phone, a ramp, a home, or part of a creation we would never have thought of.
Loose parts encourage creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and independence. They allow children to think for themselves rather than follow instructions.
At Busy Minds, children move freely throughout their environment. They have choices, they have ownership, and they are trusted as capable learners.
We believe an early childhood centre should feel like an extension of home, a place where children feel safe, valued, confident, and free to explore who they are.
Because childhood isn’t about rushing children to the next stage.
It’s about giving them the time and space to enjoy the stage they are in.

Busy Minds, where play has purpose. See you all tomorrow.

Creativity, imagination, and lots of fun at Busy Minds today!

What a wonderfully busy day of exploring, creating, and learning through play.

Our tamariki created their own kites 🪁, explored the textures and possibilities of feathers, built and problem-solved with Mobilo, created stories with our felt boards, and investigated small loose parts through open-ended play.

Outside, the adventures continued with plenty of digging, making delicious sandpit “party food”, creating, and having sensory fun. There was also lots of laughter as our little bike crew raced around, practising their wheelies. Who knows… we may just be watching some future mountain bikers in action!

These moments may look like play, but they are filled with creativity, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, perseverance, confidence, friendships, and fun. Every day our children show us how capable and creative they truly are.

See you all tomorrow.

At Busy Minds Early Learning Centre, we believe children learn best through play, exploration, adventure, and meaningful experiences.

Here, children are free to explore their environment, follow their interests, make choices, and lead their own learning journey while being supported by caring and passionate teachers every step of the way.

As teachers, our role is to encourage, support, guide, and create intentional teaching moments that help extend children’s thinking, confidence, creativity, and curiosity. We also believe in helping children build resilience, develop confidence, and learn to understand and manage risks through safe and supported challenges within their play and learning experiences. We encourage children to be open-minded, courageous, determined, and confident in giving new things a go.

For us, play is children’s work. Every game, conversation, challenge, muddy puddle, construction project, climbing adventure, and imaginative moment is filled with valuable learning opportunities.

We are proud to provide a warm, child-centred environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn each day. See You Tuesday.

To Kate and Our Busy Minds Family,

We want to thank you all so much for being an incredible extension of our family over the last 7–8 years. We have always felt so comfortable leaving our children with you. We truly appreciate everything you do and will miss seeing you all every day. Continue doing what you do, you are all amazing, and any child or family who gets to experience Busy Minds is incredibly lucky, as there is no centre quite like it. Our children have truly thrived, and that is a reflection of the education, care, love, and support you have provided over the years.

Receiving heartfelt messages like this truly means so much to us as a team. Knowing that families have felt supported, comfortable, and part of our Busy Minds whānau over the years is exactly why we do what we do.
We are so grateful for the trust families place in us to care for and teach their children. Watching children grow, learn, and become part of our Busy Minds family is such a privilege, and messages like this remind us how special those relationships really are and why we love being Early Childhood teachers.

💗 Everyday at Busy Minds is Pink Shirt Day 💗
At Busy Minds, kindness, inclusion, empathy, and wellbeing are part of our everyday programme. We believe that early childhood is a critical time for children to learn and develop the social and emotional skills they need to build positive relationships and feel a true sense of belonging.

As teachers, we intentionally support children to develop kindness, resilience, empathy, confidence, and coping skills through everyday interactions, play, conversations, and experiences. We are proud to create an environment where every child feels valued, included, respected, and celebrated for who they are.

Our goal is that when children transition onto school, they do so with the confidence, social competence, emotional understanding, self-regulation, and resilience needed to positively navigate challenges and relationships along the way, while also having the confidence to stand up for themselves, show kindness to others, and care for those around them when needed.

See you next week
