Kia ora whānau!

It feels like we are finally starting to see the end of the winter illness bugs, which is a massive relief! Thank you for your continued support in keeping our community healthy. A gentle reminder: please do not send your child to school if they are unwell. Keeping them home to rest ensures a speedy recovery and stops the spread of bugs to other students and staff.

A critical reminder for our Year 8 parents and whānau: Out-of-zone enrolments close this Wednesday, 2nd of September for the majority of our local high schools.

Please note: Even if your Year 8 student already has an older sibling attending the high school, you MUST still submit an out-of-zone application before Wednesday, 2nd of September if you live outside their school zone. Sibling priority only applies if an application is submitted on time!

Important Enrolment Notice: Year 9 in 2027

Attention parents of current Year 8 students: out-of-zone enrolment applications for the 2027 school year are approaching their deadline.

Key Application Deadline
Date: Wednesday, 2 September

Time: 4:00 PM Sharp

Who Needs to Apply by This Date?
Out-of-Zone Applicants (Categories 1–5): All out-of-zone enrolment applications for Year 9 (2027) must be submitted by the deadline.

Siblings of Current Students: If your Year 8 student lives out of zone but currently has a sibling attending your preferred high school, you must still submit an application by 4:00 PM on Wednesday, 2 September to qualify under the relevant priority category.

Note: Applications received after 4:00 PM on Wednesday, 2 September cannot be included in the standard out-of-zone ballot process.

Please ensure all completed forms and supporting documentation are submitted to the relevant College enrolment office on time.

Get ready for one of the most exciting and vibrant weeks of the school year! From 17 - 21 August, our students will be diving into activities that explore and celebrate how our diverse cultures make the world special.

🌸 A Very Special Welcome
To make the week even more unforgettable, we are thrilled to welcome our visitors arriving this Monday from our sister school in Tokyo, Japan! It's been almost a year since we visited them.

📌 Complete 4 out of the 6 optional activities

🌡️ Winter Bugs & Attendance Update
We’ve noticed the usual dip in attendance this week as the winter temperatures drop and colds and bugs make their rounds. We totally expect this around this time of year, and it usually settles down after a week or two!

Please rest assured that at school, we are doing our best to keep everyone healthy by keeping rooms well-ventilated and running air purifiers in every classroom.

Thank you for continuing to prioritise school attendance while keeping truly unwell tamariki home to rest! Remember, our individual student target is 90% to earn the Attendance Star ⭐ (less than 10% lateness), with an overall school goal of 94%.

🪩 Coming Up: AIMS Games Disco!
Get ready to dance! We are hosting our AIMS Disco this week to support our teams. Here are all the details you need:

📅 Date: Thursday, 13th August 2026

⏰ Time: 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

📍 Location: School Hall

🎟️ Entry Fee: $5.00 (Payable at the door with a signed permission slip)

🌭 Refreshments: Sausage sizzle, chocolates, and drinks will be available for purchase. (Please try to send exact change or $1 / $2 coins!)

🚨 Drop-off & Pick-up Safety:

Students must be delivered directly to the hall by an adult and collected directly from the hall by a parent/caregiver promptly at 7:30 PM sharp.

Lateness continues to be an issue, and our teachers report how disruptive late arrivals are to our morning learning programmes.

Did you know? 34% of students arriving late report that they are sleeping in! 🛌💤

To help our young people arrive on time, ready, and refreshed:

We’d love your support in considering your child’s evening and bedtime routines, including what time they are going to bed.

Setting consistent sleep schedules and limiting screens before bed can make a world of difference.

Remember: Students who achieve 90%+ attendance and less than 10% lateness earn our Attendance Star! ⭐

🧠 Knowledgeathon is Underway!
Our students are busy learning the answers to their 100 questions and collecting sponsors! Thank you for supporting them as they test their knowledge and raise funds for our school. Keep up the great studying, everyone! 📚✨
