Here is a Whakatauākī (proverb) that is in our first Speak Māori video on YouTube!
Ko te reo hapa ka taea te whakatika, ko te reo ngū e kore e taea.
It translates to
Spoken mistakes can be corrected, unspoken ones cannot.
Wherever you are in your reo journey, remember to be kind to yourself. Mistakes are part of the learning process, so embrace them, speak up, and don't be too hard on yourself. Your journey to fluency begins with that first brave step!
