Our special ‘Colour Run’ focus has resonated in some different creative projects at school.
“The WORLD needs all the COLOUR you can bring” is a painting some of our Year 8 Art extension students have just finished. This painting was inspired by American word artist Lyn Giunta.
She gave permission for Kōwhai to use one of her inspirational quotes.
It will be up in our school hall.
We shared with Lyn Giunta the special outcome, and it was so much fun to see her response, as she shared about it to her 120,000 Instagram followers. We are also on Instagram! Drop us a follow.

4 of our fabulous artists were given the very important task of designing the letter K to be part of the new Auckland sign displayed in front of the Sky Tower 🎨 . The letter K they designed, represented what it means to be a kid in Auckland. Last Friday these students got to unvail their masterpiece. They were invited up to the top of the Sky Tower and were also interviewed by 'Breakfast' for TVNZ 🤯. A massive shout out to the Variety Club for their help and support with the project. None of this would have been possible without the guidance from our wonderful art teacher Whaea Alex, whose love and passion for her art is infectious ❤️

Yesterday Mr. Tadhg and 4 representatives from the Kaitiaki Taiao took part in a workshop ran by Mana Ora Youth Resilience. Our students learned about climate resilience and were upskilled in environmental leadership. They took part in mini workshops about soil health, the carbon cycle and on how to fix a bike 🚲
It was an excellent opportunity for our students to meet like minded peers from other schools and to share success stories with one another 😎🌱🌏
Well done to following Students: Anabella A2, Xavier A4, Sky Rm.5 and Ryder TMP

Our Kōwhai Intermediate School Colour Run fundraiser has launched. Please see the letter in your inbox, or head to https://kowhaicolourrun.raiseit.co.nz/ to sign up for a fundraising profile for your child(ren). Funds raised will go towards building a new playground that provides students with opportunities to be active, build friendships, strengthen confidence, feel included, and develop a stronger sense of belonging within our school community. By creating safe and welcoming spaces for connection and play, we aim to support the holistic well-being of all learners at Kōwhai Intermediate.
We have partnered with 'Go Raise It' to run our fundraising platform, and we have some great fundraising spot prizes up for grabs – further details are on the fundraising website.
Thank you in advance for your support!

Auckland Lit Quiz
Our two teams attended the Auckland Lit Quiz on Wednesday to compete against more than 70 teams.
Both teams did really well scoring 75 and 71. This had us coming in 11th and 20th. The winning team scored 83, so the competition was pretty tight!
We had a great day celebrating the sport of reading 📚
