Dream Back to China
To be performed by more than 80 New Zealand-born Chinese children, this show revolves around the tales and dialogues between a young girl raised in Auckland and her visiting grandfather from China. It delves into questions of identity and heritage, exploring how we should bridge our past and future. Through Chinese dance, we take a meaningful journey into the astonishingly rich Chinese history – from as far back as 200 BC to the Han, Tang, Song, Ming, Qing, Republican era, Cultural Revolution, 1980-90s HipHop, and contemporary street dance. This is history and culture brought to life outside the pages of a textbook!
