The tamariki of Fantails Country delighted in using fresh flowers from Daily Blooms Florist & Gift Shop to create their own ephemeral art. With petals, leaves, and natural textures in hand, they explored creativity and self-expression, carefully arranging their treasures into beautiful, temporary masterpieces. This hands-on experience encouraged an appreciation for nature’s beauty while embracing the concept that art can be fleeting, yet still deeply meaningful.

Fantails Country recently visited the Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens, where tamariki experienced the joy of art and gardening in a way that celebrates sustainable living. Surrounded by beautiful sculptures and natural landscapes, the children explored at a slower, more mindful pace, taking in the sights, textures, and sounds of nature. This visit encouraged curiosity, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for the environment and all it has to offer.

Wai Day at Fantails was filled with laughter, curiosity, and hands-on learning as tamariki explored water through play, experimentation, and shared discovery.
The children engaged deeply with pouring, splashing, problem-solving, and teamwork, building confidence and understanding through joyful experiences.
Nga Hau Friday is a special day where learning is led by the children, allowing them the freedom to follow their interests at their own pace. Through free choice and exploration, tamariki develop independence, creativity, and a strong sense of belonging as they learn through meaningful play

At Fantails Country, we have begun our Lunar New Year celebrations by making decorations, telling stories, harvesting and preparing food together from our center vege garden and making delicious dumplings! We are looking forward to continuing to explore these traditions over the coming weeks.

We don’t hold on to our kids through perfect experiences or grand gestures.
The simplest way to hold on is through rituals — the small, steady movements of gathering, restoring, repairing, and delighting that invite our children to rest in our care.
These 10 attachment rituals are everyday ways of saying,
“You belong with us. You can rest here.”
All of these just require your presence — nothing fancy, nothing scripted. And they matter now more than ever in a world that keeps pulling kids outward: to screens, to peers, to the pressures of growing up too fast.
These rituals keep pulling them home again.
Save this as a gentle reminder:
Connection is not a performance, a set of skills to master, or tricks to remember.
It’s simply a way of showing up — again and again — in the relationship that matters most.
Which one of these are working for you?
