Messy Play offers lots of opportunities for learning including motor skills development, sensory integration, the chance to explore concepts such as cause and effect, volume and weight, creativity and self expression (there is no wrong way to get messy) social skills and the confidence to explore your own path of learning. With this in mind we always provide some kind of messy play but today we decided to have a day dedicated to it. We had spinner spray bottle painting, magic potion making, umbrella painting, all kinds of slime, a sheet and paint so that the tamariki could unleash their inner Jackson Po***ck, lots of water and big paint run so that we could try painting with our feet - in fact some of us used our whole bodies!

Yesterday was world bee day. Sara loves bees so she created this wonderful bee themed table for our tamariki to explore.

Yesterday we took a small group of our Pukeko children to visit the residents at Otau Ridge Village. Seeing young and old together was very special and everyone had a great time. Many thanks to the staff and residents of Otau Ridge for the great hospitality. We look forward to catching up with you again next month.

A BIG thank you to everyone who came to the walk through of our new building yesterday. It was great to see so many people there and to be able to chat to some of you about our new centre. Things are starting to get exciting!

Over the last week our tamariki have been learning about ANZAC day. We shared stories about the ANZAC soldiers, did poppy art and made ANZAC biscuits. We also collaborated in creating a wreath to be placed at the monument during the ANZAC service. A big thank you to all the families who were able to join us on ANZAC day. Lest we forget.
