This morning, our tamariki enjoyed a feast of natural beauty. They smelled the fragrance of flowers and autumn leaves 🍂, explored their different textures, and immersed themselves in the wonders of nature. What an beautiful and enriching learning experience it was!

Our little explorers dove into a sea animal sensory adventure! With squishy textures and discovering ocean creatures, the children used their senses to learn, imagine and play.
Sensory play helps develop fine motor skills, language, creativity and
confidence.
We loved watching their curious minds explore the wonders of the ocean.

The recently installed fence between the nursery and preschool rooms is creating exciting opportunities for children to build new friendships and connections. This shared space encourages positive social interactions, confidence, and a sense of belonging as children engage in play and learning experiences together in a safe and supportive environment.

Our tamariki enjoyed a rich sensory and imaginative play experience outdoors using loose parts and flour in the trough. With egg trays, paper plates, spoons, and forks, the children transformed simple materials into creative ideas such as “ice blocks,” “cone pizza,” and “snow mountains.” Through scooping, pouring, filling, and experimenting with textures, tamariki explored early mathematical concepts including measurement, quantity, size, and comparison while also developing language, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The experience encouraged sharing, turn-taking, collaboration, and meaningful conversations between peers and kaiako, creating a joyful environment full of exploration, storytelling, and discovery. Ka pai tō mahi tamariki!

Today, our tamariki proudly took part in Pink Shirt Day by wearing pink to show their support for kindness, inclusion, and standing up against bullying.
We went outside our daycare with simple banners to help share an important message with the community to be kind and support one another. The children were so excited when passing cars honked and waved in support, making them feel proud and acknowledged for being part of such a positive cause.
At our daycare, we encourage our tamariki to show kindness, respect, and care for others every day. Today was a lovely way to come together and celebrate those values as a community.
