Exploring scent and colour today! We added different flavours to our paint so children could link each colour to a smell. Then we used balloons as stamps to create scoops of ‘ice cream’ on our cones 🍦

🌼 Hello Spring! 🌱

The seasons are changing and so are our explorations. This spring we’ll be:
🌿 Tending our vegetable garden and watching our sunflowers grow
🦋 Investigating bugs, butterflies, and all the tiny creatures that call our garden home
🐣 Observing life cycles as we welcome chicks hatching in our incubator
🌸 Learning about flowers, seeds, and the magic of growth
☀️ Noticing changes in the weather and celebrating longer, warmer days

Spring is a season full of wonder, growth, and new beginnings—and we can’t wait to discover it all together! #

Sometimes the simplest skills we take for granted, like tying a knot, are the ones children are still discovering. 🪢✨
This week, as we’ve been practising, we’ve noticed how much persistence and focus it takes to get the loops and pulls just right.

With Father’s Day coming up, we’ve been talking about how dads (and all the special father figures in children’s lives) often pass on these everyday skills — from tying knots to tying shoelaces, fixing things, or showing us clever tricks. 💙

Learning together is a gift in itself, and these little moments become the big memories.

Our tamariki are learning all about Daffodils, how they grow, their bright yellow color, and why they are so special at this time of year. But we’re also learning something even more important: daffodils remind us of hope, kindness and care for others💛

Art is one of our favourite ways to embed big ideas in little hands💡
🎨At our preschool art is more than creativity or fine motor skills - its how our children explore, question and share ideas. Through painting, moulding, gluing, cutting, and constructing they are making sense of the world around them, connecting learning across science, maths, stories and emotions

With careful hands and curious hearts, the children have threaded our collected treasures onto string—each one a story, a wish, a wonder. Now they dance from the branches of our Wishing Tree, catching the light and carrying dreams to Hiwa-i-te-rangi, the Matariki star of wishes and aspirations."

It’s the foundation for rich, open-ended process art. By simply adding connectors, tools, and treasures, we create a world full of possibility. Through this exploration—alongside peers and supported by Kaiako—children engage deeply in creativity, collaboration, and discovery.
