What an absolutely incredible week we’ve had celebrating Samoan Language Week – Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa!
Our amazing Samoan whānau put on a vibrant and assembly today that left us all feeling incredibly proud and inspired. From the high energy siva to the beautiful presentation of culture, it was a showcase of pride, identity, and community.
A massive fa'afetai lava to our wonderful Samoan whānau teachers, and learning assistants who poured so much love, time, and energy into preparing our tamariki for today’s performance.
We also want to say a huge thank you to our students who showed so much courage and pride on stage. To all the families and whānau who came along to dress, watch and support your children, your presence made the day even more special.
Celebrating our diverse cultures is what makes our community so special, and today was a perfect reminder of that.

A massive shout-out and thank you to the incredible team from Hubbards, who came into our school last week to host a delicious breakfast for our tamariki!
The energy was high, the milk was flowing, and our kids got to fuel up for the day with some awesome kai. Seeing everyone sitting together, laughing, and sharing a meal was the perfect way to kick off the morning.
We are so incredibly grateful to businesses like Hubbards who step up to support our school community and make sure our tamariki start their day with full tummies and happy faces.

What an incredible day we had last Friday for Pink Shirt Day! Māngere Central School was a vibrant sea of pink as our community stood together against bullying to celebrate kindness and inclusivity.
Our students had a fantastic time participating in the day's highlights:
The Pink Photo Booth: Capturing fun memories and big smiles with friends.
Face Painting: Wearing our support loud and proud.
The Kindness Wall: Filling our school with beautiful, encouraging notes about lifting each other up.
A massive thank you to all the students, staff, and whānau who wore pink and brought such positive energy. Let’s keep spreading the kindness every day—Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora!

What a fantastic day for our intermediate mathematicians! Yesterday, our talented students headed off to compete in the Junior South Auckland Math Competition, and we couldn’t be prouder of how they represented our school.
Our students faced some tough problems and stiff competition, but their hard work and preparation truly paid off. Please join us in celebrating these impressive results:
Year 8 B Team🥇 1st Place
Year 7 Team🥈 2nd Place
Year 8 A Team Wonderful Effort!
While our Year 8 A team didn't place this time, they showed incredible grit, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
A huge shout-out goes to Miss Sharma. Thank you for your passion and the countless hours you spent training and mentoring our students. Your dedication is what makes these opportunities possible.

On Wednesday April 29th, at 10am, there is a nationwide quiet hour. This is an opportunity to make our school environment more accessible to autistic students, and while it might seems like only a moment, it is the start of a movement.
During this hour, we will show the autistic community that as a society we are ready to truly accept autism and embrace the accommodations needed to create an accessible society.
Wear a hoodie to show your support and to raise awareness of autism.

New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) Week returns from 4–10 May 2026, marking a significant milestone: 20 years since NZSL was recognised as an official language of Aotearoa New Zealand.
This year’s NZSL Week holds both celebration and reflection. For the Deaf and NZSL community, the 20th anniversary recognises decades of advocacy, resilience, and collective mahi - while also acknowledging the pain, barriers, and inequities that persist and continue to shape Deaf lives today.
You can practice New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) at home using these simple guides.
Don't forget to ask you child to share what they have been learning at school next week!
