It is with deep sadness that I write to inform you of the passing of one of our valued staff members, Seema Shankar, who passed away early this morning after a courageous battle with cancer.
Seema joined Rosehill College in 2020 as a Soft Materials teacher. In her time with us, she made a meaningful and lasting impact on many of our students. Seema was a dedicated and passionate educator who cared deeply about her teaching and the young people she worked with every day. Her commitment to her profession, and to ensuring her students felt supported and capable, was evident in all that she did.
Beyond the classroom, Seema brought warmth, kindness, and quiet strength to our school community. She will be remembered for her generosity of spirit, her professionalism, and the genuine connections she built with both students and staff.
This is a significant loss for our kura, and our thoughts are with Seema’s family, friends, and all those who knew and worked alongside her.
We understand that this news will affect members of our community in different ways. Support will be available at school for any students or staff who may need it over the coming days.
We will share further information with you as it becomes available, including ways we can come together to acknowledge and remember Seema.
