🌿 Bush Walk Adventure

Today, the children enjoyed exploring nature on our bush walk. They searched for “golden leaves”, played hide and seek, and looked carefully for insects hiding under leaves and around trees. They also explored different tree barks, noticing their interesting textures, patterns, and colours.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to develop their curiosity, observation skills, confidence, and appreciation for the natural world. 🍂🐞🌳

🎣🔤 Hi5s Tamariki Activity – “Fishing for Letter Aa” 🌟

Today, our tamariki had lots of fun fishing for the letter Aa! 🎣✨ Through this playful hands-on experience, children explored both uppercase A and lowercase a, strengthening their letter recognition and visual discrimination skills.

We practised the phonic sound /a/ and enjoyed singing the phonic song together with actions 🎶👏. The tamariki enthusiastically searched for and “caught” the correct letters, developing their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and perseverance along the way.

This activity also supported print awareness, helping tamariki make connections between letters, sounds and written language. It was wonderful to see their excitement, confidence and curiosity as they learned through play! 💕🌱

💙 A Special Father’s Day Celebration 💙

What a beautiful and heartwarming Father’s Day celebration we shared at Nature’s Point! It was truly wonderful to see our tamariki proudly sharing their special concert with their dads, grandads, father figures, and loved ones. The smiles, laughter, excitement, and beautiful moments throughout the day made it a celebration to remember. 💙

A huge BRAVO to all our amazing teachers! 👏 You worked tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare our tamariki for their concert. From practising songs and performances to supporting the children with confidence and excitement, so much time, patience, love, and dedication went into making the day such a success. Your hard work and commitment truly shone through, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do.

A very special thank you to our student teacher, Tanaya, who went above and beyond to help us decorate the rooms and create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Your creativity, time, and helping hands added that extra special touch to our celebration. We truly appreciate you! 🌸

And, of course, our biggest and most heartfelt thank you goes to all the wonderful positive role models in our Nature’s Point tamariki lives. 💙

Thank you for taking the time to attend, celebrate, encourage, and be present for our children. Your presence means so much to them. Seeing their special people sitting proudly in the audience, watching their performances, sharing their smiles, and celebrating their achievements helps build a strong sense of belonging, connection, confidence, and whanaungatanga.

🔢✨ Hi5s Numeracy Activity – Count & Encircle!

Today, our tamariki had fun counting objects and matching them to the correct numeral. This engaging activity supported one-to-one counting, number recognition, concentration, problem-solving and independence.

It was wonderful to see tamariki showing curiosity, perseverance and confidence as they counted, checked their answers and made independent choices. 🌟

Part-Time Accounts & Administration Support – Early Childhood Centre

Position: Accounts, Administration & Centre Support

We are looking for a reliable, organised and experienced Accounts & Administration person to join our friendly early childhood education centre.

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys administration and working with people. While the main focus will be on accounts and administrative responsibilities, there will also be occasions when you may be required to support the teaching team on the floor, depending on the needs of the centre.

Key responsibilities include:

* General accounts and administration duties
* Invoicing and fee administration
* Processing payments and maintaining accurate financial records
* Assisting with accounts payable and receivable
* Data entry and maintaining centre records
* Supporting enrolment and attendance administration
* Communicating professionally with families and staff
* Assisting the Centre Manager with general office and administrative tasks
* Maintaining confidentiality and accurate documentation
* Supporting the centre team with day-to-day operational needs
* Occasionally assisting teachers on the floor with children when required
* Helping maintain a safe, welcoming and positive environment for children

We are looking for someone who:

* Has previous experience in accounts and/or administration can be beneficial
* Is confident using computers and Microsoft Office
* Has excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* Is reliable, trustworthy and able to work independently
* Has good communication and interpersonal skills
* Is flexible and happy to assist where needed
* Is comfortable working around young children and supporting the teaching team when required
* Understands the importance of confidentiality
* Experience in an early childhood or education environment would be an advantage

You will be joining a warm, supportive and professional team where everyone works together to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the centre.

Hi-5 Tamariki Learning Activity – Count and Match

Today, our Hi-5 tamariki engaged in a fun and purposeful “Count and Match” activity, supporting the development of early mathematical and fine motor skills. The tamariki practised oral counting as they counted objects and matched them with the correct corresponding number. Through this hands-on experience, they were developing an understanding of number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, quantity, and early mathematical concepts.

The activity also provided opportunities for tamariki to strengthen their fine motor coordination by using scissors to cut, colouring pictures, and carefully matching and placing items. These experiences encouraged concentration, hand-eye coordination, control, perseverance, and confidence as tamariki worked through the activity at their own pace.

This learning connects strongly with Te Whāriki – Exploration | Mana Aotūroa, as tamariki are developing working theories about numbers, quantities, patterns, and how things connect through hands-on exploration. It also links to Communication | Mana Reo, as tamariki use mathematical language and oral counting to communicate their thinking and understanding. Through participating alongside others, sharing ideas, and supporting one another, tamariki are also strengthening Contribution | Mana Tangata, developing confidence and social competence within their learning community.

🌿 Comparing Heights – Our Bush Walk Learning Adventure 🌳

Today, our preschoolers enjoyed a wonderful bush walk learning adventure. As we explored the natural environment, the children became curious about the different heights, lengths and sizes they could see around them.

The children looked up at the tall trees and compared them with the shorter plants and bushes nearby. They explored sticks, branches and leaves, placing them alongside each other to discover which was longer, shorter, wider or narrower. Some children even stood beside the tree trunks and compared their own height with the trees, using words such as “taller,” “shorter,” “longer,” “higher” and “lower.”

Through this hands-on experience, the children were developing early mathematical thinking, measurement, comparison and spatial awareness. They were also strengthening their observation, communication and problem-solving skills while learning together in the natural environment.

Our bush walk reminded us that mathematics is everywhere and can be discovered through play, movement, curiosity and our connection with nature. 🌱🔍🌳

🌼💛 A Beautiful Daffodils Day at Our Centre! 💛🌼

Today, our centre was filled with yellow, sunshine, smiles, and lots of little moments of joy as we celebrated Daffodils Day! 🌼

Our tamariki had a wonderful time taking part in a range of fun, hands-on activities, exploring the colour yellow, creating beautiful artwork, and celebrating together with their friends. 💛

It was lovely to see the children’s excitement as they got creative and brought their own special touch to our yellow-themed celebration. Through play and activities, they were also developing their creativity, confidence, communication, and sense of belonging. ✨

A big thank you to all our wonderful parents and whānau for supporting our celebrations and helping us make these special days meaningful for our children.

💛 Our little learners certainly brightened up our day by spreading a little extra yellow and a whole lot of happiness! 🌼

🌟 Hi5 Activity: Follow the Path! 🌟

Today, our children enjoyed a fun “Follow the Path” activity designed to support important pre-writing and fine motor skills. ✏️🖐️

As children were encouraged to move from left to right and follow the dotted paths, they were developing:

🔹 Fine motor coordination
🔹 Tool grip and control
🔹 Visual tracking
🔹 Pre-writing patterns
🔹 Hand-eye coordination
🔹 Concentration and focus

A simple activity with lots of learning! 🌈✨ The children showed great persistence as they carefully followed each path and strengthened the skills needed for future writing. 💕

Tamariki practised one-to-one correspondence by counting dots and matching them to the correct numeral. With intentional teaching from Whaea Shivani, they strengthened their oral counting, number recognition and early maths skills. 🔢✨
