Our Teina tamariki had an exciting bush walk adventure today ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ‚

The children took the door ball along with them and enjoyed lots of active play, including a fun game of hide and seek amongst the trees and nature pathways. There were many smiles, laughs, and moments of teamwork throughout the walk.

Tamariki also collected natural treasures such as dry leaves, twigs, bark, and seed pods to use for creating beautiful nature collages back at the centre ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ

One of the highlights of our walk was the childrenโ€™s curiosity about the dry leaves covering the ground. Together we explored why leaves dry out and fall during this season, encouraging conversations about nature, weather changes, and the world around us. It was wonderful to see their curiosity, observation skills, and love for learning shine through ๐Ÿ’›

Today our centre proudly celebrated Pink Shirt Day ๐Ÿ’–

Our tamariki and teachers came together wearing pink to spread kindness, inclusion, and friendship. Through meaningful conversations, activities, and shared experiences, children learned the importance of standing up against bullying and showing respect and empathy towards others.

It was wonderful to see everyone supporting one another and helping create a safe, caring, and positive environment where every child feels valued and included. ๐ŸŒธ

Today the tamariki asked Whaea Tirisa if they could collect some dry leaves from outside because they wanted to paint them and do leaf printing. Whaea Tirisa encouraged the children to think about what they might need for the experience and asked, โ€œWhat colour paint should we use?โ€

Aylah quickly said, โ€œPink!โ€ Amarni smiled and said, โ€œI want pink too!โ€ Kiaan added, โ€œPink paint will look cool on the leaves.โ€ Masley excitedly shared, โ€œWe can press them on the white paper and make prints.โ€ Dylan said, โ€œThe pink leaves are going to look beautiful!โ€

The tamariki carefully collected dry leaves and explored the different shapes and textures. They painted the leaves with pink paint and pressed them onto white paper, watching the patterns and leaf veins appear clearly. The children proudly talked about how easy and fun it was to make leaf prints, sharing their excitement with one another as they created their artwork.

Whaea Tirisa used intentional teaching strategies by encouraging conversations, asking open-ended questions, and supporting the tamariki to explore creativity through nature-based art. This experience supported the childrenโ€™s language development, cooperative play, fine motor skills, and confidence in expressing their own ideas and preferences.
