The birth of MIT Trades Academy 🚗🔌🛠️🪚🍴

Ten years ago, the idea of bridging the gap between secondary education and the workforce seemed like a steep challenge. But the vision and leadership of Graeme McClenna, Gaynor Matthews, and Gil Laurenson steered an almost impossible task into a life-changing pathway for young learners across South Auckland.

The inaugural intake of 225 students back in 2015 has grown to 860 this year with a possibility of having more next year. This shows the effectiveness, evolution, and still some untapped potential of the programme. ↗️

Beyond the education, the programme transformed futures and removed limitations as to what career pathways the students choose. 💪

Heavy winds did not deter prospective students to visit our maritime school enrolment day today. They received information about our maritime programmes and were able to hear about exciting maritime career opportunities.
