📸 D.E.A.R in Whānau Time

Every Wednesday during whānau time, our Year 10 students participate in D.E.A.R (Drop Everything and Read). Now into their second term of this routine, the ultimate goal is to shift the focus towards reading for purpose and pleasure, rather than it just feeling like another set classroom task.

Whether it is a book about sport, non-fiction, or fiction, the aim is simply to expose the boys to new vocabulary and broaden their perspectives. Reading opens their minds to the world.

We want to encourage all our boys to keep making the most of the school library to find books, or to bring their own reading material from home. Establishing this weekly routine is a step towards helping the boys build a genuine habit of reading.
