Kelston Boys’ High School is proud to congratulate Valerie Alexander-Vui on her election as President of the New Zealand School Boards Association (NZSBA), Te Whakarōpūtanga Kaitiaki Kura o Aotearoa - the professional body representing and advocating for school boards across NZ.

Valerie’s election is a significant milestone for education governance in Aotearoa. She is the first Pasifika person to serve as President of NZSBA, taking on the leadership of the national body representing 2,500 school boards and kura across the country.

Valerie brings more than a decade of governance experience across primary and secondary education, including serving as Presiding Member of St Joseph’s School Grey Lynn and Deputy Presiding Member of Kelston Boys’ High School. She has also served as Chair of the NZSBA Auckland Regional Executive, providing leadership across New Zealand’s largest and most diverse region.

Her governance leadership is complemented by 20 years of international legal, policy and advisory experience, working with governments and global organisations on issues affecting children, families and vulnerable communities. This breadth of experience has shaped her strong commitment to transparent, accountable and effective leadership.

Valerie’s election also represents an important milestone for Pasifika leadership in education governance and reflects the value of diverse voices at the highest levels of decision-making.

Kelston Boys’ High School is immensely proud to have Valerie serving on its Board and as Deputy Presiding Member. We congratulate her on this outstanding achievement and look forward to seeing her bring her experience, conviction and leadership to the national stage.

Kia ora Kelston whānau, you would have seen a recent post from us acknowledging the passing of an Old Boy. Unfortunately, we have had to archive this due to a Non-Publication Order, and that we are not allowed to share the information of his passing.

During this time we continue to have the family and friends of the Old Boy in our thoughts and prayers as they navigate this deep grief. 💫🕊
