Even Manny knows the importance of self-care 😌💜

After helping students practise clinical skills and patient care scenarios, Manny decided it was time for a well-earned break around campus.

Healthcare can be busy — don’t forget to recharge too ✨

🌏 Strengthening Global Partnerships to Address Aged Care and Workforce Challenges

Kalandra Education Group recently had the privilege of hosting a delegation from Nanjing Medical University to discuss workforce development and the growing challenges within aged care internationally.

The delegation visited, where shared insights into public-private healthcare partnerships and delivering complex care within rural New Zealand.

The group also toured, gaining valuable insight into innovative aged residential care and community living models.

Special thanks to and for their generosity and hospitality.

By sharing knowledge, innovation, and educational capability across borders, we can contribute to stronger healthcare systems for the future.

Not all heroes wear capes…
some wear scrubs, hold your hand, and stay when it matters most.

Today, we recognise the strength, skill, and compassion of nurses everywhere 💙

From emergency departments to aged care facilities, from hospitals to homes—
nurses are at the centre of care.
They advocate, lead, comfort, and save lives every single day.

At Kalandra, we are proud to be part of the journey—
supporting students who go on to work alongside incredible nurses,
and helping build the future healthcare workforce.

To every nurse—especially those in our community, our classrooms, and our wider whānau—
thank you.

For your knowledge.
For your resilience.
For your humanity.

👩‍⚕️ Happy International Nurses Day

Today we honour all who mother—
those with, without, remembering, and becoming 💛

Mothers, grandmothers, aunties, caregivers, and those who step into mothering roles—
you are often the first to comfort, the first to teach, and the first to advocate.

At Kalandra, we see every day how these qualities carry into healthcare.
So many of our students and graduates bring that same compassion into the lives of vulnerable people—
treating them with dignity, patience, and kindness.

Because at the heart of great care…
is the heart of someone who knows how to love.

Today, we honour you.
Not just for what you do—but for who you are.

💐 Happy Mother’s Day

🌺 ANZAC Day 2026

Today, we pause to remember and honour the bravery, sacrifice, and spirit of the ANZACs — and all those who have served, past and present.

At Kalandra, this day holds special meaning. The soul of Kalandra is Billy — mother of Christine, grandmother of Kelly and Alex. Billy was an exceptionally strong woman, deeply proud of her service in the WAF (Women’s Auxiliary Air Force) during WWII. In later years, she was a much-loved leader at the RSA, head of the Women’s Group and famously the bouncer on the door every Sunday night. We often joked that if we wanted to see Mum, we had to head to the RSA and watch her "work."

Billy met her husband Ray after the war — he had served in the Army before transferring to the Navy and seeing action in Korea. He didn’t speak often of those days, except to tell tales of the moonshine he brewed below deck… until it exploded.

Both Billy and Ray were leaders at the Manurewa RSA and were honoured with Lifetime Memberships. ANZAC Day was sacred to them. They marched at every possible service, usually with Kelly or Alex at their side — sharing laughs with friends and remembering those no longer here.

We reflect today on the values they upheld — courage, commitment, care — and strive to carry those forward in everything we do at Kalandra.

Lest we forget.
