So fun to play in a show again - it’s been a minute. Happy to be helping Avondale College with such a fun musical! 🧡🎶

2026 was going to be the first time in 18 years of teaching that I wasn't involved in a school production - until I accepted an invitation last night to cover the woodwind part in "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" [a very funny musical] for Avondale College this week as their player had to step away. Playing flute, clarinet, alto and soprano saxophones. Fun! 🧡

Since November, this Laraway Fine Arts student in Joliet, IL has been eagerly anticipating the day she could finally play the bass clarinet. 🎶

When the instrument finally arrived, she came in for her very first lesson and said, “It’s the best day of my life.”

Moments like this remind us that an instrument is more than just an instrument—it’s a chance for a student to pursue their creative passion.
