Hand and Hand Early Learning Centre

Our days are filled with sunshine, laughter, and meaningful moments of discovery. At our centre, children enjoy spending time outdoors, soaking up the sunshine as they play, explore, and build friendships with their peers. Through a rich variety of engaging learning experiences, we support each child to grow in confidence, curiosity, and creativity. Whether it’s discovering something new, working alongside friends, or simply enjoying the joy of play, every day is an opportunity for learning and connection.

🧧🐴 Our tamariki at Hand and Hand Flatbush have been enjoying learning about Chinese New Year and the Year of the Horse through creative and meaningful experiences.

Children explored the celebration by making lanterns, horse artworks, and red envelopes (hongbao) while learning about traditions, family celebrations, and symbols of good luck. We also enjoyed singing a Chinese New Year song together.

A special thank you to Huaijun Dong’s mother, who joined us and made vegetarian dumplings with the children. Tamariki loved being part of this cooking experience and learning about traditional Chinese food.

It has been a wonderful opportunity for tamariki to explore culture, traditions, and community together. 🧧✨

Unforgettable Moments from Our Holiday Program!

Our past two weeks of school holidays were filled with fun, learning, and new adventures for our tamariki. From a St John visit that inspired empathy and responsibility, to exciting sports and science days that strengthened teamwork, problem-solving, and curiosity — every moment was an opportunity to grow.

Children also loved the SPCA puppy visit, explored their imaginations on Pirate Day, expressed creativity through their own tie-dye t-shirts, and worked together in gardening activities that nurtured collaboration and guardianship. 🌱✨

We at Hand and Hand Childcare are so proud of our tamariki for embracing every challenge and having so much fun along the way! A big thank you to our teachers, families, and special visitors who made this program possible. 💖

At Hand and Hand, we aim to provide children with a wide variety of experiences to support their learning and development. Learning is always happening in fun, engaging, and meaningful ways.

This week, our preschool children were lucky to take part in a special magic show to celebrate a child’s birthday. 🥳The experience filled the room with wonder and excitement while also nurturing children’s curiosity, imagination, and problem-solving skills. As they watched each trick unfold, tamariki were encouraged to think critically, ask questions, and share their ideas about how the “magic” might work. The performance also created a strong sense of togetherness, as the children laughed, clapped, and celebrated the surprises side by side, building joy and community.

💙 Father’s Day Celebration at Hand and Hand Flatbush 💙

On 5th September, we came together to celebrate the amazing fathers and father figures in our children’s lives. It was a day filled with aroha, laughter, and gratitude. 🌿✨

Prior to the celebration, our tamariki worked hard creating special gifts – muffins, handmade cards, and thoughtful souvenirs – to show their love and appreciation.

On the day, we shared kai with a pizza party 🍕, enjoyed each other’s company, and even held a raffle draw where three lucky dads won prizes 🎁.

The environment was beautifully set up by our kaiako with blue and black themed decorations, photo frames for memories 📸, and of course, our delicious muffins topped with blue icing baked specially to honour our fathers. 🧁💙

It was truly a wonderful turnout and a heartfelt way to celebrate the unconditional love, care, and support fathers give to their children every day.

Our School Readiness Programme is thoughtfully designed to support tamariki as they transition from early childhood to their school journey with confidence, curiosity, and joy. A dedicated learning corner provides focused group time to enrich their experience, while every achievement lights up their eyes with excitement and engagement.🥰

From our cosy Babies Room to our adventurous Preschool Room, our tamariki grow, play, and discover side by side — forming friendships that blossom through their preschool years and beyond.

Learning alongside friends gives our children the confidence to take risks, explore new ideas, and try things they never thought they could. Together, they share belly laughs, imaginative games, muddy puddle adventures, and those “I did it!” moments that make childhood magical.

At our centre, we believe these early friendships are more than just playmates — they’re cheerleaders, co-explorers, and the beginning of a lifelong love of learning.
