Let's explore Kinetics (physics)! Our little group of 2yr Olds are always on the move, so I've set up some things around the room and outside that require different types of motion to get them moving!
There are things that require gravity, magnetism, torque, thrust, inertia, force... basically just EXPLORING
Will they learn all of those words? Probably not! But as they explore and experiment they will develop working theories which will help them when they find new activities which are similar as they get older.

Some of the tamariki helped me put our Matariki stars on the wall, it was very tricky to put the small sticky gems on, but it was fairly easy, and quite fun to put the the cards up. Today one of the girls helped me put glue on the long borders and stick them to the wall. It looks fantastic, I have such great helpers!

Let's experiment with balance!
The children have been showing interest in fine motor skills, mainly through drawing and manipulating puzzle pieces at the moment, it's time to add a new challenge. Let's see their fine motor skills develop through balancing things in a variety of ways.
Stacking objects ontop of one another, balancing the weight of different items, balancing the bird on different heights and thickness blocks, spinning tops, rings and weighted tumblers.

Welcome to Whare iti 🏠
Children love having small cozy spaces, now we have a "lounge/kitchen/dining area" downstairs and a "bedroom" upstairs.
Whare iti is designed to add a new element to the layout of our playroom, with all safety features carefully considered and contructed, we now have a dynamic dramatic-play space.

In the photos you will see the transformation from the initial plans, steel frames, wooden floor planks, the fight we had trying to get the safety net to conform, and then the final result.

I hope the tamariki will enjoy our new Whare iti 💜

We are back up and running! We've had a break for a while, now we're back and better than ever.

If you're looking for home-based childcare for a tamaiti 2yrs or older please get in touch.

Monday to Friday 7.30am - 5pm (or 5.30 by arrangement) depending on the days and times that you need.
Winz and ECE subsidies available.

My home-based is a free-play environment that uses "provocations" to entice the tamariki to explore their interests. At the moment we have an amazing doctor's area as our provocation, along with different activities/interests around the room.

Do we have any budding musicians?
I can't wait to hear the creativity that will happen when our little whanau come back on Monday!

Wow, so much fun with this fully transformable marble run! The 4yr olds can easily create their own tracks, trying ideas and seeing which arrangements work and which don't, building their plans right up high!
The 2yr olds are fascinated with the plans from the instructions, they happily watched the marbles go down the tracks.

Kia Ora,
I would like to share this car seat clinic by Plunket. You can go for free to check if your seats are installed correctly and help with adjusting it.
But the best part is the free anchor bolt installation, this can save you paying the mechanic about $50!
