Tamariki are growing a strong sense of identity, belonging, and pride in who they are. As they share and celebrate culture, at Living & Learning Māngere, they begin to understand what connects us, and what makes each of us unique. These moments help build empathy and respect for others, laying the foundations for meaningful relationships and a deep sense of belonging.

A huge thank you to Fulton Hogan, the contractors working on the Harania Creek Flood Resilience Project on behalf of Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters team, for visiting our centre and giving tamariki the opportunity to learn about all things construction in real life. Hands-on learning, teamwork, and big smiles all around!

Whāia te iti kahurangi, ki te tūohu koe, me he maunga teitei.
Pursue that which is precious, and should you stumble, let it be over a lofty mountain.
This whakataukī reminds us of the courage, resilience, and growth that come from change. Tamariki at Living & Learning Māngere recently discovered a nest filled only with eggshells. These young birds have taken flight, and just like them, our tamariki are growing in confidence and courage every day.

Tiny hands and big ideas with colour, laughter and aroha everywhere. Tamariki at Living & Learning Māngere learn through paint and play, discovering that learning is joyful. And sometimes, love looks like red hands in the shape of a heart.

Supporting Healthy Smiles
Living & Learning Māngere has partnered with Auckland Regional Dental Services Outreach Program for our annual dental health awareness week.
This partnership helps our tamariki and whānau engage with dental services in a safe and supportive way while learning about how to care for their teeth and overall wellbeing.
Together, we are building brighter smiles and healthier futures for our tamariki and whānau.

Today at Living & Learning Māngere, tamariki explored the world of carpentry, measuring, sawing, hammering, and creating with purpose and pride. Through hands-on building, they developed not just fine motor skills, but also patience, perseverance, and problem solving. Each nail tapped and each piece joined was a step in learning how they can make their ideas become a reality, with their own hands!
