🎭✨ ALATINI PRODUCTION CAMP 2026 ✨🎭
On Kings Birthday Monday, over 50 of our talented rangatahi alongside our dedicated Dance and Drama staff headed off to Chosen Valley Camp for the next three days as they prepare for our 2026 school production — ALATINI. 🌺🔥
ALATINI is our vibrant Pasifika reimagining of Aladdin, and we are incredibly excited to share this production with our Manurewa community in Week 11, the final week of this term.
Production camp is where the magic truly comes together — long rehearsals, choreography, vocals, acting, creativity, laughter, connection and growth. It takes enormous commitment from both staff and students who willingly give up their time during weekends and public holidays to create unforgettable opportunities and experiences for our community.
Under Te Ara o Taawhaki, we continue to celebrate the gifts, talents and brilliance of our young people — creating spaces where they can express themselves, build confidence, strengthen relationships and strive for excellence together. ❤️🖤
Keep an eye out for tickets, whaanau — ALATINI is going to be something special. 🌟

✨🔥 MANUREWA MAGIC DOESN’T MISS A BEAT 🔥✨
While many were enjoying their weekend, our staff and students were up before the sun on Saturday morning, travelling to Tauranga and returning late that night to proudly represent our community at the Project Youth Hip Hop Dance Competition.
Four crews representing Rewa All Stars competed in the Secondary School Division:
🔥 KIDS NEXT DOOR
🔥 ALL IN
🔥 MVI RIVALS
🔥 KATDOLL
A huge congratulations to ALL IN for placing 🥉 3rd out of 14 secondary school crews — an incredible achievement against strong competition from across Aotearoa.
Massive congratulations also to Mr Taitanyk Toniu crew, Culprits, for placing 🥉 3rd in the Adult Division. What an awesome example of passion, commitment and leadership through dance.
These moments don’t just happen. They come from long hours, sacrifice, dedication, rehearsals, van rides, early mornings, late nights, and staff who continue to go above and beyond for our rangatahi.
This is the part people don’t always see, our young people striving for excellence, building confidence, representing their culture and community with pride, and our staff showing up every single time to create opportunities beyond the classroom. That is Manurewa Magic. ❤️🖤
Piki atu ki te rangi - Aim high, Strive for excellence. ✨ We are proud of all our crews that represented us in the weekend!
Tālofa lava, we are excited for you to join us for our Ava Ceremony to celebrate the beginning of Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa - Samoa Language Week.

Six businesses. Five minutes. One powerful kaupapa.
This week, our Year 13 Business students, who are part of the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES), stepped up to pitch their business ideas to a panel of outside judges.
YES is a real-life business experience involving schools across Aotearoa, and our students had just five minutes to present their product, business plan, market research, financial breakdown, forecasting, production process, vision, and most importantly — their pūtake.
At Manurewa High School, our YES programme goes one step deeper. Through Te Ara o Tāwhaki, we ask our young entrepreneurs:
What does it mean to be a kaitiaki of Papatūānuku through business?
The result is six powerful student-led businesses, each rooted in cultural identity, environmental connection, whakapapa, and purpose:
Mārama Shakti — an Indo-Fijian and Tongan-led app using Ayurvedic wisdom to help destigmatise periods and support young people to understand their cycles.
Prealima — sacred skincare balms created by wāhine, honouring ancestral recipes and rituals of care.
Moana Roots — a deeply nourishing hair oil created by Pasifika girls, returning hair care back to its cultural roots.
Heritara — a beautifully designed traditional games book, complete with equipment and packaged in a hand-crafted wooden carved box.
Aroha Hauora — a wellbeing app designed to help students plan, study, stay motivated, and care for their hauora.
Mana Lei — handmade harakeke-inspired lei, created with love, culture, and care for Papatūānuku.
This is what business education can look like when it is grounded in tikanga, mātauranga, innovation, and deep purpose.
Our 17-year-olds are not just learning about business.
They are showing us what it means to be Tāwhaki.
They are showing us what it means to be kaitiaki.
They are building the future, deeply rooted in their past.
Kia whakatōmuri te haere whakamua —
We walk backwards into the future, guided by the wisdom of those who came before us.

✨ We have something special to celebrate at Manurewa High School! ✨
Last Wednesday, our talented Spoken Word team performed at Word the Front Line — and for the first time we know of, our students have made it through to the semi-finals! 🔥🎤
This is an incredible achievement and a powerful reflection of the creativity, courage, voice and storytelling our rangatahi carry. To stand and speak your truth in front of others takes confidence, vulnerability and strength — and our students represented our kura with pride.
A huge congratulations to:
• Lesieli Havili (Year 11)
• Darby Hillman (Year 11)
• Francis Hunt (Year 13)
• Jassan Kaur (Year 10)
• Psalm Mahanga (Year 13)
• Yalamba Sheriff (Year 11)
Massive acknowledgement as well to Miss Clack for organising and supporting this kaupapa, alongside Miss Pizzini who shared, “It was such a beautiful night!” ❤️
Under Te Ara o Taawhaki, our rangatahi continue to rise through expression, identity, courage and voice — Piki atu ki te rangi! ✨
Karawhiua team — we are proud of you all and can’t wait to support you in the semi-finals! 💛🖤
