It was a truly special farewell for our Mrs Higgs. A very powerful and moving haka from our Kapa haka learners.

Yesterday we farewelled our beautiful Mrs Higgs as she moves on to her new school, Hingaia Peninsula School, after more than five years of service to our kura.

Mrs Higgs has truly been the heartbeat of our school and will be so dearly missed by our learners, whaanau, staff, and wider school community. She has been a much-loved and valued part of our kura, and her contribution to our learners, whaanau, and staff has been deeply appreciated.

While we are sad to see her go, we thank Mrs Higgs sincerely for all she has given to Tamaoho School and wish her every success and happiness as she begins this next chapter.

All the very best Mrs Higgs!

It was wonderful to see so many whaanau/families at our Learner Led Conferences on the 24th and 25th of March. Thank you whaanau for taking the time to come along, connect with your child's learning, and engage in these important conversations.

We greatly value your support and partnership. Working together helps us to support each learner to progress and achieve success.

This Saturday, we were incredibly proud to have three of our cultural groups perform at the Franklin Cultural Festival, our Kapa Haka group, our Pasifika group, and our Indian group. It was a wonderful day filled with vibrant performances from schools across the Franklin area, celebrating the richness and diversity of our communities.

Our learners represented our school with pride, confidence, and enthusiasm, and we were proud to see them share their cultural performances on stage.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing staff for supporting our learners. To Whaea Mere and Mrs Tremewan for supporting our Kapa haka group, Mrs Va'a and Mrs Bastiaanse for their support with our Pasifika group, and Mrs Puri for supporting our Indian group.

We are also incredibly grateful to our amazing Tamaoho parents and whaanau who have supported these groups. Without your time, encouragement, and support, opportunities like this would not be possible.

A huge thank you to Whaea Mere and Mrs Tremewan, who have worked so hard to support our learners and create a meaningful and enjoyable experience. We are also greatly appreciative of the support from our whaanau, as our Wanaga is made possible through your support.

This wanaga was an important step in preparing our Kapa haka learners for their performance at the Franklin Cultural Festival on Saturday.

Wow, what an incredible week of learning at Tamaoho School. It has been wonderful to see such deep engagement in learning across the school. Our teachers are designing rich learning opportunities that hook, inspire, and engage our learners, while thoughtfully valuing learner voice in the way learning is planned and delivered. We are so fortunate to have such amazing, dedicated teachers who work hard to create meaningful learning experiences for every child.

This week our Year 1–4 learners had an amazing time watching the Cool Cat and Worry Watchdog show by Think and Be Me. The tamariki absolutely loved the performance – it was fun, interactive, and full of humour and movement while also sharing some really important messages about feelings and wellbeing.

The show helped our learners understand that all feelings are normal and gave them practical strategies they can use when worries pop up. They learned about noticing and naming their feelings, calming their body and brain, and how to “Catch, Check and Change” unhelpful thinking.

A special shout out to Whaea Mere and Mr Chang for their fantastic special guest appearances – our learners loved seeing you take part in the show!

We would also like to say a huge thank you to the Think and Be Me team for not only delivering such an engaging performance but also generously donating resources for our learners, including character puppets, posters, and take-home resources.

Another big thank you to Kia Ora Ake, who continue to support our kura and tamariki through a range of programmes. We are always grateful to welcome them into our school community and appreciate the positive impact they have on our learners.

It was a wonderful learning experience for our tamariki and a great way to talk about emotions, wellbeing, and strategies for when worries show up.
