Our oldest preschool tamariki had an unforgettable experience watching some mechanics at work at Clearview Motors auto shop! 🚙 🔧

Our Kereru group have been learning all about vehicles and motion and were so excited to observe the mechanics and ask questions. 🧰 ⚙️

Thank you to the team at for making this experience possible for our tamariki.

We love starting our mornings by engaging our senses. Our tamariki enjoyed smelling and creating with our homemade cacao play dough, and decorating their creations with cinnamon sticks, star anise, and rosemary.

This week, our tamariki spread kindness throughout the community of Ellerslie by passing out and delivering handmade kindness cards. ☀️

We also visited the Pataka Kai community pantry and practiced giving back to our community by contributing some kai. 🍏

A couple of weeks ago, we hosted a lovely Parent Education Evening. Whānau had the opportunity to chat with our Kaiako to gain more in-depth knowledge of what we teach and how we teach within our Rata Grove preschool. 🌱✨

Our topics included:

1. School Readiness Programme: How learning links to various primary school subjects and what we are doing to prepare tamariki for a successful transition to school. ✏️ 📚

2. Connecting with our Community: How our tamariki benefit from excursions that strengthen their sense of belonging and connection with the wider community. 🚌 🤝

3. Te Reo Māori: How we integrate te reo Māori into our daily routines and the specific words and phrases we teach our tamariki. 🗣️ 🌿

4. Celebrating Cultures: What we do to recognise, learn about, and celebrate the diverse cultural backgrounds of our tamariki. 🌏 🎉

5. Social & Emotional Development: How we support the social and emotional needs of our tamariki, including strategies for building relationships and developing self-regulation skills. 💛 🧠

6. Music, Movement & Drama: How we integrate music and movement throughout each day, and why these experiences are so valuable for holistic development. 🎶 🎭

Last week, we celebrated Diwali! ✨ One of our lovely parents came in to share about this special cultural celebration and created beautiful henna for our tamariki.

Throughout the week, our tamariki also explored rangoli patterns and made our own diyas. 🪔

Our tamariki are cooking up a storm in the mud kitchen! 🥣

We love planning provocations for our tamariki to connect with nature - mixing, pouring, and creating with the earth beneath their feet. These experiences nurture imagination, sensory exploration, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. 🍃

Spring has sprung! 🌷 Our Tui tamariki have been enjoying excursions to our nearby park, where they can explore and observe signs of spring. 🌱
