Equally, Term 1 over in the Kowhai room has been so full of memorable learning moments and development, along with some great times. Take a look! Bring on the holiday programme, and Term 2! 🫶

With this week being the last week of Term 1, take a look at some snapshots of this term in the Kauri room! Countless intentional learning experiences and smiles. 😆

At Kindy, our tamariki in the Kauri room enjoy baking! With cheese scones as our kindy staple, and the children being involved during the entire process, it is a wonderful hands-on learning experience where children practice measuring, mixing, pouring, and working together as a team. They also love to receive their own tasty reward for all their hard work!! 🧀🧀

At kindy, we are stoked that Playball Auckland Central has kicked off this year! Playball introduces children to constructive, enjoyable, and age-appropriate sport foundations which allows for the opportunity to boost confidence, social skills, sports skills, and self esteem.

We have been celebrating and learning about Chinese New Year / Lunar New Year / Spring Festival in our kindy. 🐉🧧

Cultural celebrations are so important here at kindy and allow for intentional learning experiences that support children's development. Through what the tamariki have learnt, they have developed deeper cultural awareness, language skills, creative skills, and a sense of belonging. This links back to Te Whāriki, supporting Belonging, Communication, and Exploration, and helps the children learn about the world around them in meaningful and inclusive ways.🥰🌏

Take a look at some of the awesome learning that has been going on!

The children have been learning about Waitangi Day through meaningful discussions, art, creativity, storytelling, and intentional learning experiences. This learning links to Te Whāriki, particularly Mana Whenua (belonging) as the children develop a sense of connection to Aotearoa and its history, Mana Reo (communication) as they share ideas and learn Māori words, and Mana Aoturoa (exploration) as they learn and explore through hands-on experiences. This week and next week at kindy, the children across both the Kowhai and Kauri room are learning about Waitangi Day and what it means for Aotearoa. Through stories, discussions, intentional experiences, and creative projects, the tamariki are exploring ideas of belonging, fairness, and respect. These meaningful conversations help the tamariki understand an important piece of New Zealand history and build early foundations and understandings of community, empathy, and identity.
