Celebrating Tongan Language Week 🇹🇴

What an incredible week of celebrating lea mo e anga faka-Tonga and Hiva. Our students have had the opportunity to learn, connect and have fun through a range of hands-on cultural experiences. From making and enjoying refreshing ‘otai, to learning traditional weaving and necklace-making, our students embraced each activity with excitement and enthusiasm.

We were also privileged to experience a special kava session, where students learned about the importance of kava and its place within Tongan culture and traditions. To add to our week, we welcomed a special guest — a police officer who is now a Detective, who shared his journey and experiences with our students. It was wonderful to see our students listening, asking questions and being inspired by his story.

Most importantly, the week has been filled with laughter, learning, pride and connection. Our students have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating their Tongan culture and language, and it has been a wonderful opportunity to share these experiences together as a school community. Mālō ‘aupito to everyone who helped make this week so special! 🇹🇴❤️
