TPS Te Manawa 2020

Kia ora and a huge welcome back to the 2021 school year.
From our first day at school on Tuesday the 2nd EVERY student at Te Papapa School will receive a healthy school lunch every day at school. This is a part of the governments Ka Ora, ka Ako programme and we will be partnering with the Ministry of Education and our lunch provider, Spotlight, to provide a free nutritious lunch from the first day for every student at Te Papapa School.

The children will be eating their kai together at 11.30am each day in their classrooms following their first play.

We are aware that some children have specific dietary needs due to specific food allergies, religion or being vegetarian etc.
We will try our best to cater for this in the first week the best we can, but we will be sending home a form to be completed early in the week to ask for this information.

The school will also continue to provide fruit every day for every child in addition to the lunches so children will be fully fed at school during the day. Fruit will not be provided until week 3 of the school term so we suggest that you may want to send your child with a snack for second lunch break if you think they might need it.

We also recommend that children bring a water drink bottle to school that they can keep in their classroom although we do have plenty of water fountains in the school children can use. We are hoping we can establish a water only policy in the school this year so please help us to do this. Fizzy drinks are already banned and we are working hard to also avoid sugary cordial drinks and fruit juices.

We are very excited to be one of the first schools to be included in this government scheme and we love the fact that it is for everyone in our Kura!

✨🌟 That’s a wrap 2020 school year. What a crazy journey it has been. We want to once again thank you for supporting your tamariki to be the best they can be. We have loved teaching them all! For those who have children leaving, you know where we are if you want to pop in ANYTIME. For those returning and re-joining Te Manawa with Whaea Tiff / Whaea Sarah or Te Tui with Matua Lance + two to Te Rito... see you SOON! Have a safe and happy new year. Reminders for the next few days:

Wednesday (tomorrow)
-Senior prize giving begins at 11:30am tomorrow. Year 6 and 8s may wear cultural clothes instead of uniform.
-Year 6 and 8 Graduation dinner 5-7pm (formal occasion)

Thursday
-fun day/sports day Whānau welcome. Children need sunscreen/hat + swimming toys (we have water slides).

Friday
Last day for 2020, school ends at 2pm.

Mōrena Whānau, just a reminder (incase you didn’t get the memo) we are having a shared lunch today in the middle block. Children may bring a food item for us to all share it you wish ❤️

🎉 Year 6 and 8 parents. Our leavers (and children staying on within the year group) are invited to Graduation Dinner this Wednesday evening 🌟 A permission slip will be coming home on Monday.

Beyond proud of all of the TPS tamariki tonight! Always proud of our seniors and in particular the diversity within our classroom. Very emotional (happy tears). ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks for supporting us Whānau. We are so privileged to know you and know your beautiful kids. Photos to come! 💓
