Westlake Girls High School is a state secondary school with 2,200 students, located on Auckland's North Shore.
We welcome international students to study NCEA with us from Years 9-13 (ages 13 to 18).

Our two WGHS International students Reika Matsuo (Japan) and Natalie Cheung (Hong Kong) attended a special invitation event at the University of Auckland on Friday Sept 2nd, welcoming new International students to NZ as are borders are reopen. Both students were thrilled to have photos take with our New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

On Wednesday August 31st our new International students attended a welcome event with other North Shore Secondary schools hosted by Massey University Albany Campus. It was great to welcome our International students back to NZ and to WGHS.

What a wonderful week we have had, welcoming 34 new International students into our Westlake Family. There are 10 long-term students and 24 short-term students, mainly from Japan, who will be here with us for Term 3.
They were welcomed with speeches, a school tour and were partnered up with a buddy to help them feel at home. We are looking forward to many happy memories being created.

Almost a year ago, Governor-General Dame Patsy Reddy was scheduled to open our brand new Event Centre. Two days before the August Grand Opening we went into lockdown! On June 30th we were absolutely delighted to finally welcome Dame Patsy, now former Governor-General, to our much anticipated Event Centre Celebration.
Our Kapa Haka group, Cantare and Westlake Symphony Orchestra were all spectacular and Head Prefect Ivy Michell gave an impressive speech. It was a stunning day and well worth the wait!

We held our first international assembly for Term One 2022 in the foyer of our brand new events centre. What a lovely space and environment. Our girls enjoyed sitting on the comfy new seats instead of the gym floor;-) We are looking forward to many more this year.
