💙🏐 TĀMAKI COLLEGE PREMIER NETBALL | MANUREWA PRE-UNISS 🏐💙

A positive day on court for our Tāmaki College Premier Netball Team at the Manurewa Pre-UNISS Tournament.

The girls played four section games throughout the day and were fortunate to come away with four wins, which saw them finish 1st in their section and progress to the crossover final.

Our results:

🏐 Tāmaki College 19 – 6 Ōtāhuhu College
🏐 Tāmaki College 21 – 11 Te Kura Māori o Ngā Tapuwae
🏐 Tāmaki College 24 – 10 St Ignatius Catholic College of Loyola
🏐 Tāmaki College 18 – 9 Papatoetoe High School

The girls then faced Papakura High School, who had also finished 1st in their section, in the crossover game for overall 1st place.

It was an incredibly competitive match, with both teams pushing each other right through to the final whistle. The game finished in a draw at full time, sending it into an extended tie situation where the rule required a team to win by two clear goals to secure the overall title.

Both teams continued to battle hard in extra play, with momentum swinging both ways, before Tāmaki were able to edge ahead and secure the required two-goal buffer.

We were grateful to come away with the win and finish the tournament as overall 1st place. 🥇

More importantly, today gave our girls another valuable opportunity to play against different opposition, work on our combinations and identify areas we still need to improve as we prepare for UNISS at the end of the month.

There is still plenty of work ahead of us, and we know each tournament is simply another step in our journey. We are proud of the way the girls continue to learn, support one another and represent Tāmaki College with pride.

A big thank you to Manurewa Netball for hosting the tournament, to all of the teams we had the opportunity to play, and to our whānau and supporters who continue to stand behind our girls. 💙🤍

While today’s results were mixed, every player showed courage, determination, resilience, and pride in the red and blue. We continue to build a strong programme, and every game provides another opportunity to learn, grow, and improve.

Tāmaki College Premier Netball Team Bring Home Another Title! 💙💛

A huge congratulations to our Tāmaki College Premier Netball Team, who had an outstanding weekend of netball and continue to make our school proud!

The girls opened their weekend with a commanding 42–20 victory over Santa Maria College before heading into the Pre-UNISS Howick Tournament, where they went undefeated to claim the College 1 – Section A Championship.

Congratulations to our WM New Zealand Volunteer of the Month for June - Maleah🎉

Maleah is the Head Coach at Tamaki College, but her dedication to netball goes beyond the court. She provides breakfast for her team after early morning trainings and gives her all to her teams and the players within them.

The flu and cold season is in full effect and the snuffles are definitely making the rounds, but we want to make sure our students are staying warm, healthy, and staying on track with their learning.

Regular attendance is key to keeping momentum in the classroom, so here are a few quick tips to beat the winter bugs and keep showing up:

Layer Up: Make sure to wear your warm school layers and a jacket for those frosty mornings.
Fuel Your Body: Eat well, stay hydrated, and get plenty of sleep to help keep your immune system strong.
Wash and Sanitize: Regular handwashing is our best defense against winter germs!

Not sure whether to stay home or come to school?
If it's just a minor case of the sniffles or a mild cough—layer up, grab some tissues, and head on in! However, if you have a fever, a severe cough, or are feeling genuinely unwell, please stay home to rest up and recover.
