The Everest Nepalese Student Club hosted a gathering of close to sixty kaimahi ‘staff’ and ākonga ‘learners’ in the atrium at the student hub on Mt Albert Campus, Tuesday 1 September, to raise awareness and support of the Nepal Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. Huge congratulations to Master of Creative Practice alumna Scarlett Robinson-Kean who has taken out the 2026 Margaret Mahy Illustration Prize! The Margaret Mahy estate, publishers Hachette, and Little Moa chose Robinson-Kean as the winner for her reimagining of the bewitching classic Aunt Nasty. Congratulations to Tanesha Jeyakumar and Jasper Chen from Waikato Diocesan School for Girls, who returned after being finalists in 2025 to win this year’s National Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge.
