🌺 Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa 2026 | Samoan Language Week 🌺

At St Peter Chanel Preschool, we are excited to celebrate Samoan Language Week and honour the rich language, culture, and traditions of Samoa.

This year’s theme is:
“‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le 'nu'u” – “From the high mountains are the blessings of the village.”

Our main celebration will be held on Friday, and we invite all tamaiti to come dressed in Samoan attire or cultural wear as we enjoy a day filled with learning, music, dance, language, and cultural activities.

We look forward to celebrating together and embracing the beauty of Gagana Samoa with our preschool whānau. ❤️💙🤍🇼🇸

Butterfly Creek Trip 2026

Our trip to Butterfly Creek in 2026 was a wonderful learning experience for the children. They had many new experiences, explored different animals, and learned about nature and the environment. The children were excited, engaged, and enjoyed discovering new things throughout the day.

This experience links strongly to Te Whāriki, especially the strands of Exploration (Mana Aotūroa), where children learn through active exploration and curiosity, and Contribution (Mana Tangata), where they share ideas and experiences with others. The trip also supported children's confidence, communication skills, and understanding of the natural world.

We would like to say a big thank you to all our parents and whānau for your support and help in making this trip possible. Your encouragement, participation, and assistance helped create a memorable and meaningful experience for the children. We truly appreciate your ongoing support and partnership in your children's learning journey.

Date: FRIDAY 29TH MAY 2026

⭐️ Parents and children that are coming with us on the bus please be here at 9 AM!
⭐ 9:30 AM - Bus is leaving from St Peter Chanel Preschool

⭐️ Please sign in and sign out your child/children
⭐ If you are not joining us on the bus, please meet us at Butterfly Creek @ 10:00 am.
⭐ Train Ride is @ 11:15 am
⭐ Lunch time is @ 11.45 around play ground area next to cafe
⭐ Crocodile show @ 1:00 pm
⭐ Return time to school is @ 2:00pm
⭐ Please bring some spare clothes and nappies for your child
⭐️ A healthy packed lunch for your child/Children. There is a cafeteria area which you are welcome to use.
⭐️ Water bottle NEEDED at all times
⭐️ Parents attending the trip with your child please be with them at ALL times.
⭐️ Our St Peter Chanel children will have a yellow highlighted vest
⭐️ Preschool is CLOSED for the trip as there are no teachers staying back at school.

It’s a reminder to stand alongside anyone affected by bullying and to nurture inclusivity, kindness and understanding.🩷

Taking part and wearing PINK 👚 today (Friday 15th, 2026) our preschool shows a commitment to creating a kinder, more inclusive learning environment where all tamariki(children) and kaiako(teacher) feel safe, valued, and respected regardless of who they are.

Our shared mat learning time today, encouraged all children to recite positive affirmation such as ‘I am kind’, ‘I am loved’, ‘I am good friend’, ‘I am strong’, ‘I am brave’, ‘I am happy’, ‘I am important’, ‘I can share’, ‘I can do hard things’. Most importantly to share love like our friend Jesus.
