Happy International day for biological diversity🌱
Did you know that about one million plant and animal species face the threat of extinction?
Biodiversity is the variety of plant and animal life in the world or in a particular habitat such as an ecosystem🌱
Without biodiversity, humans would not be able to live on earth , meaning it is important that we protect all kinds of plants, animals, fungi and bacteria🌍

Starting Term Two off strong, weeding, planting, and eating the occasional strawberry 🍓
It’s been so awesome to see people who haven’t planted 🌱, weeded, or watered 💧🌧 a garden before getting involved and their hands dirty, and now we’ve got our own little group of gardening experts 🧑🌾
As well as the garden taking off since the change of the seasons 🍂, we’ve been thrilled to see more biodiversity in our garden. Caterpillars 🐛 , Hu hu grubs, worms 🪱 and skinks 🦎 have all begun making their home in our garden!
We’ve got heaps of projects planned for the garden 🪴 this year, so watch this space!

Happy Bee Day 🐝. Fun fact: bees love lavender 🌾 and they love it even more when it is grown without harmful pesticides and chemicals. 🪴 In the Long Bay College Regenerative Garden we aim to create a healthy and organic environment for all the bees in our community. We’re hoping that once we start planting these bees will make our garden home. Do you have bees that call your garden home? 🌻
