What a moving morning it was celebrating the opening of our Matariki exhibition, in Howick on Saturday. Karakia and waiata were shared, as well as many cuddles and smiles.
We’re so proud of the mahi Paia Swanson-Terepo (Ngā Puhi) from Kotahi te Raranga/Weave As One Workshops and Maha Tomo (Ngati Mahuta, Ngai Tahu, Ngati Kauwhata, Rangitane, Ngati Toa) from Aotearoa Bone and Stone Carving home of Toi Manawa workshops. Their exhibition showcases their practices involving weaving, carving and community participation, all through a Te Ao Māori framework and the values embedded into them.
You can pop down to 110 Picton St, Howick, until 15th July to see the works. On display Mondays - Saturdays each week.

Kotahi te raranga, kotahi te tāngata is sharing our woven journey through te ao Māori with our hapori (community).
Opening Saturday is our Matariki installation in Fencible walk, Howick (Picton Street)
Paia Terepo-Swanson (Ngā Puhi) a local weaver, storyteller is one of the creatives showcasing their work, Paia has been facilitating raranga (weaving) workshops in the East Auckland and internationally for over 20 years.
The wānanga (workshop) are woven together with the values of te ao Māori which acknowledges the interconnectedness of everyone present.
The photos shared in this exhibition weave together our kaupapa (purpose) “Kotahi te raranga, kotahi te tāngata”, me ngā uara (and our values)
