"Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave."
This quote by the wonderful Mary Tyler Moore emphasises the significant role of courage and perseverance on our journey to personal growth.
It's a reminder that every chance we take and every mistake we make propels us forward.
If it's the mental (or physical) ache of challenging yourself, this pain is a nourishing force, feeding our courage to keep going.
But if it actually hurts when you are singing, you MUST stop, take a break, get it checked out by a professional if it continues for longer than a few days and make time to get some vocal coaching to help.
Failure isn't a setback, but rather an opportunity to practice bravery.
It is through these experiences that we truly understand the value of resilience, helping us to break through barriers and become stronger versions of ourselves.
Continue singing, keep practicing, record, and review your performances.
Let this quote inspire your journey, because it's through this resilience and courage that you'll truly experience growth.

I wanted to share something that's been a game changer for me as a singer.
Some time ago I got tired of comparing myself to other singers.
I can't remember if it was prompted by an awesome motivational book I was reading or if I had just evolved into that moment after being so over that constant internal dialogue of "am i good enough?".
I literally woke up one day and had this epic light bulb moment.
I realised that I was unique and there were always going to be singers that had crafted more than me and some that hadn't.
That day I owned my strengths as a singer and also the things I needed to work on.
It is the one thing that made a difference, because then I was able to focus on learning about my voice and how to craft as a singer, without doubt and fear hanging over my head.
I was armed with my singer's technique toolkit to troubleshoot any singing problem I had.
I felt creatively free, excited and with so much clarity that helped build my confidence as a singer.
And that, simply boiled down is because no-one is YOU and THAT is your superpower. Or more specifically, no-one has your voice and experiences and that will ALWAYS set you apart in of itself.
How you tell your stories is up to you now...

Literally need to remind myself of this every day!
EVERYTHING is hard, especially at the beginning.
Learning new things is hard.
Trying something different is hard.
Working a new system is hard.
It does get easier but there SHOULD always be a new challenge around the corner to keep you crafting, growing and developing as a singer/human.
Also, you can "choose your HARD..."
Crafting everyday to become a better singer OR dealing everyday with the fact that you never gave it a go...
Choose your HARD!
You can do this!
