🦠🧼 Learning About Germs at Small Fries! 💛

With lots of children getting sick this winter, we wondered, “How do we get sick?” 🤔

Together, we’ve been learning about germs, how they can spread, and why washing our hands is so important. 🧼✨

Through mat time, free play, stories, and fun group games, our children are learning healthy habits in ways that are meaningful and fun! 🌟

We’re building understanding, independence, and confidence as we learn how to keep ourselves and others healthy. 💕🙌

Our preschoolers are having fun while building so many important skills! 💛

Puzzles help develop problem-solving, concentration, hand-eye coordination, fine-motor skills, visual awareness, memory, patience, persistence, and confidence. 🧠✋👀

They’re also learning to make decisions, recognise shapes and patterns, and celebrate their achievements when they find the right piece! 🌟

There’s something so special about watching our preschoolers at Small Fries learn to write their very own names! 💛

Name writing is more than just letters on paper — it’s building confidence, developing fine-motor skills, and discovering the joy of “I can do it!” 🙌

📖✨ Growing in faith at Small Fries ✨📖

At Small Fries, we are proud to be a Christian centre where children have the opportunity to learn about God, His love, and the wonderful stories from the Bible.

The children have been enjoying our Bible learning time, listening carefully, asking thoughtful questions, and sharing their ideas. These special moments help children build a strong foundation of faith and create meaningful memories that they carry with them.

We are grateful to see how joyfully the children engage with God’s Word and how well they remember the lessons they learn. ❤️🙏

⚽️ The World Cup may have come to an end, but our boys’ passion for soccer keeps going strong! 🌟

The excitement, teamwork, and love for the game continue to shine on the playground. The boys are still practising their skills, sharing the ball, scoring goals, and creating their own soccer moments with friends.

Through soccer, children are building confidence, developing coordination, learning about teamwork, and showing respect for others. The final whistle may have blown, but the joy and passion for the beautiful game will always continue! ⚽️✨

❄️ A chilly morning brought a magical discovery to our playground! ❄️

The children noticed ice forming outside and were excited to explore this frosty surprise. They carefully touched, held, and felt the ice, noticing that it was cold, hard, slippery, and changing as it warmed in their hands.

As they explored, the children shared their own experiences and stories related to ice, connecting their observations with memories from home and the world around them. They listened to each other’s ideas, asked questions, and developed their communication and scientific thinking skills.

Through this hands-on experience, children learned about the properties of ice, observed changes in the environment, and discovered that everyday moments can become meaningful learning opportunities. 🌨️✨

🎨🌌 Creating Our Own Space-Inspired Wall Art! 🚀✨

Our outdoor learning space became an art studio as we attached a large sheet of paper between two poles, creating a giant canvas for the children to explore their creativity.

Inspired by our learning about space, the children freely painted using a variety of colours to represent galaxies, planets, stars, and the beautiful night sky. There was no right or wrong way to create—just endless opportunities for imagination and self-expression!

This open-ended art experience encouraged the children to experiment with colours, mix paints, make different brush strokes, and create unique patterns. As they worked together on the shared canvas, they developed their creativity, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and confidence while learning to share space, communicate, and appreciate each other's ideas.

It was wonderful to watch the children express their own interpretations of space, turning a blank canvas into a vibrant masterpiece filled with imagination, teamwork, and wonder. 🌠💙🎨

🚀🌍 Exploring Gravity Through Hands-On Learning! 🌕✨

As part of our exciting journey through the solar system, the children have been learning about gravity and how it affects objects in space and here on Earth.

To explore this concept, we dropped a marble from a height onto a tray of cornflour. The children carefully observed how gravity pulled the marble down, creating a crater in the cornflour. They noticed that the higher the marble was dropped, the greater the impact and the deeper the mark it left behind.

This investigation encouraged the children to make predictions, test their ideas, observe closely, and compare the different results. They explored early scientific concepts such as gravity, force, height, impact, and cause and effect while developing their observation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

It was wonderful to see their curiosity grow as they asked thoughtful questions, shared their ideas, and made connections between their experiment and the craters found on planets and the Moon. Hands-on learning like this helps children build confidence as they discover how our amazing world—and beyond—works! 🌎🪐💫

✨ Our young learners have been busy exploring the wonders of our solar system! 🌍🪐🌟

Using paper and balloons, the children created their very own planets in different sizes. They will soon be painting each one in its unique colours, bringing their amazing creations to life.

It has been wonderful to see how much they have learned about the different planets over the past few weeks. Their curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm have truly shone throughout this project. We are so proud of their fantastic work! 💙🚀
