Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa (Samoan Language Week)
We are proud to see the official Samoan Language Week poster featuring our very own amazing Mrs Jennifer Tapu and her ‘āiga (family).
This year, the official theme for 2026 is:
"‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu‘u" (From the high mountains flow the blessings of the village)
This theme reminds us of the importance of community, the wisdom passed down through generations, and the honour we owe to our cultural foundations.
We began our celebrations today with a flag-raising ceremony, followed by a formal, traditional ‘ava ceremony. To complement the celebrations, our staffroom now features vibrant displays highlighting Samoan heritage. There is plenty more to come—please check out the program for a full outline of the week's events.
We look forward to a week filled with joy, connection, and celebration!
Manuia le vaiaso (Have a great week)!

Music Month Finale!
It was an absolutely amazing May, celebrating Music Month and the incredible musical talent here at Aorere College! Our Tiny Desk Concert Series, every Friday, has been filled with inspiring performances, showcasing the incredible talent within our school.
From soulful melodies to powerful rhythms, every student who stepped up brought their unique spark, reminding us just how powerful our school community is when we create space for our rangatahi to shine.
To finish the month in true Aorere style, we celebrated with a massive finale!
We were thrilled to welcome the Backline session band to perform live for our last Tiny Desk concert. A massive thank you to Cid (bass), Fa (drums), Simi (guitar), Nafu (mixer), and Aorere ex-student Andrew on keys, who performed alongside our very own talented Mr Soakai Malamala.
Ngā mihi nui to the band for sharing your incredible talent, and to the crowd for showing your appreciation and support! Also to Mr Viliami Telefoni, Mr Soakai Malamala and Whaea Flo Wynyard, ngā mihi nui for your unwavering support.

Aorere College Ball - Quiet Zone Dropoff!
The school ball is this weekend.
Please see the attached for those of you dropping off students at the venue on Saturday.
Important note: You CANNOT turn right from Albert Street into the Crowne Plaza. From Victoria Street West, turn into Albert Street and then turn left into the hotel entrance. There will be police in attendance to manage the traffic.
To help us, please make your drop-offs as efficient as possible. The hotel will still be carrying on with the business of being a hotel, and we cannot impede their business by creating traffic jams at the entrance. There will be a lot of traffic, and we need the line to keep moving in an orderly fashion to get our students there safely so that they can enjoy their night.
Doors to the venue will open at 6 pm.
Finish is at 11.30 pm
Thank you.
