A little about me and what I do 😊
I’m an experienced English and Drama secondary teacher, having completed my English degree in London and then going on to complete my PGCE at the Institute of Education, University of London. I have taught primary school children and have taught extensively in the UK and NZ school system.
I’ve been a Kip McGrath tutor and a private English and Speech and Drama tutor on and off over the years.
I also run confidence-building Drama classes Acorn Performers for primary-aged children currently in Tamaki, Auckland.
I’ve run professional development for Primary school teachers and a workshop for University students at the University of Otago preparing them to deliver PhD presentations.
I’m available to work with primary-intermediate aged children in all areas of the curriculum, reading and writing, speech and presentation skills using specific confidence-building strategies.
I also tutor English or Drama needs for high-school students.
I specialise with nervous or shy students who may be fearful of the many overwhelming expectations at school. Fears overcome at a young age paves the way for a lifetime of enjoyable learning and ‘stick-with-it-ness’. It cannot be emphasised greatly enough, the impact a confident fearlessness has on a person’s life. It’s my joy to be a little part of encouraging this in any of my students.
I am available for one-on-one, at home tutoring sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Sessions are 45 minutes long and include lots of hands-on, creative ways of engaging with curriculum material.
I am based in the St Heliers area.
I offer one-on-one tutoring in a 45 minute session. If there are 2 students with similar learning needs they can combine for a 1 hour session.
Holiday intensives can also be booked with 3 sessions per week.
Please message me if you’d like any further info or to chat about the needs of your child/teen.
Thank you :)
