Our annual Matariki celebration is a time to remember where we come from, honour those who came before us, and appreciate those who are with us today.
Together, we shared kai cooked in the hāngī cooker, created our Garden of Hope by inviting whānau to write messages of hope, goals, and affirmation on rocks to display in our gardens where our tamariki and wider community can read them and add their own messages as a way of inspiring one another, uplifting mana, and supporting positive mental wellbeing.
Our tamariki and whānau also enjoyed making candles and kawakawa balm, and we were delighted to share a special story time with the wonderful staff from Greenlane Hospital.
What an honour and privilege it was to celebrate Matariki with our incredible community. We are grateful for the opportunity to come together, share traditions, strengthen connections, and create memories that will last for years to come.
Our tamariki may not remember every detail of our celebration, but we hope that years from now they remember the kōrero and kai we shared, the sense of belonging and connection they felt, and the joy of being together on this special occasion.
A special thank you to our amazing team for making this celebration possible.

It has been an incredibly emotional day as we farewell our amazing Lynn, who is now embarking on the wonderful journey of retirement. After 27 years of dedicated service to Aro Arataki, she has been the heart and soul of our team, inspiring us all with her commitment, generosity, kindness, and support.
Her bright, sunny personality lights up every room, and we will miss her dearly. But we’re also incredibly excited for this new chapter in her life, as she enjoys precious time with her whānau.
Lynn, thank you for everything you have done for us! You’ve been more than a colleague, you’ve been a safe place, a source of comfort, and a true friend. Your big, warm, comforting hugs are truly the best, and we are so incredibly grateful for everything you've brought to our team. We wish you all the best in your retirement and the adventures ahead.
Arohanui from all of us at Aro!

Talofa lava, whānau,
As we wrapped up Samoan Language Week last week, I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to our amazing Tausili and her whānau for leading the celebrations and sharing their rich cultural traditions through food, music, dance, costumes, and storytelling. We are truly fortunate to be in Tausili's presence, learning from her knowledge and helping create a vibrant cultural experience for our tamariki.
We are also proud to share that we have received our confirmed ERO report. This report is a reflection of the significant progress we’ve made in our knowledge and practice since the last review. I want to take this moment to especially acknowledge our wonderful team for their hard mahi and dedication to teaching and learning.
This is a significant achievement and one that is absolutely worth celebrating. I couldn’t be prouder of our wonderful team of teachers and leaders.
A copy of the report will be available on our website and will also be published on the ERO website next week.
