Today we celebrated our wonderful Ashi!

Although Ashi has only been part of the Peekaboo family for a short while, she has already made such a lovely impression. Her warm nature and caring heart have made her a wonderful addition to our team.

The children have especially loved sharing cuddles and snuggling up with Ashi to read their favourite books together. It’s lovely to see the special connections she is already building with the children.

We are so thrilled to have you as part of the Peekaboo family, Ashi, and we hope your birthday was filled with lots of love, laughter and happiness!

Today we celebrate someone who brings so much warmth, energy and positivity into our Nursery room.

Bella is always ready to start the day with a smile and her wonderful can-do attitude shines through in everything she does. She works with our littlest people — our precious babies — and she is genuinely amazing at what she does.

Bella has such a natural ability to build beautiful, meaningful relationships with our tamariki and their whānau. She is caring, nurturing and incredibly attentive, creating a safe, loving and joyful environment where our babies feel secure, valued and cared for.

Her passion for what she does is so evident, and you can truly see how much she loves being part of our babies’ lives. The relationships and connections she creates are very special, and she brings so much heart, laughter and happiness into our days.

We are incredibly lucky to have Bella as part of our Peekaboo whānau and are so grateful for everything she brings to our team.

🎓 **A very special celebration at Peekaboo Childcare!** 🎓

Today our children and teachers shared a very special morning as we celebrated one of our wonderful teachers, Jihee, officially graduating and receiving her Provisional Teacher Certification.

This achievement reflects years of dedication, perseverance, and hard work. Throughout her teacher training, Jihee has balanced study, family life, and her role at Peekaboo Childcare with incredible commitment and positivity. She has embraced every opportunity to learn, grow, and develop into the confident and capable teacher she is today.

Jihee's kindness, genuine care, and passion for early childhood education shine through in everything she does. She has a beautiful way of building meaningful relationships with children, families, and her colleagues, creating a warm and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued.

Watching Jihee's journey from student teacher to a provisionally certificated teacher has been a privilege. Her willingness to learn, her resilience, and her commitment to providing high-quality care and education make her an invaluable member of our team.

Today was a wonderful opportunity for our children to celebrate alongside us, recognising the importance of perseverance, lifelong learning, and celebrating the achievements of others. It was a joyful morning filled with smiles, cheers, and plenty of proud moments.

Congratulations, Jihee! We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved and look forward to watching you continue to grow and inspire the tamariki and families in our community.

🌊⚓ What a fantastic morning we had welcoming Sarah and Megan from NZ Coastguard to our Preschool! 🚤💙

Sarah and Megan were absolutely fantastic, sharing important water safety messages in a fun, hands-on way that kept the children engaged from start to finish.

The children had the opportunity to try on life jackets and learned why everyone - including Mum and Dad—should always wear one when out on the water. They also explored some of the emergency safety equipment that people can use to call for help if they get into trouble on a boat, including marine radios and flares. The children learned that these are important safety items and not toys to play with.

One of the highlights of the morning was taking part in a water safety exercise. The children huddled together around their teacher, Nikita, to practise how people stay together in the water if they ever need to wait for help. This hands-on activity helped them understand the importance of staying close, looking after one another, and remaining calm in an emergency.

There were lots of curious questions, excited smiles, and meaningful learning throughout the visit. Experiences like these help children build confidence, develop an understanding of how to stay safe around water, and learn practical safety skills that could one day make a real difference.

A huge thank you to Sarah and Megan for spending the morning with us and making water safety such an engaging, enjoyable, and memorable learning experience. We loved having you visit! 💙🛟🌊

🚔👮 Whoop whoop! We had a very special visitor at Peekaboo today!👮🚔

Today we welcomed Tania from NZ Police and what an exciting morning it was!

Tania arrived in her police uniform and showed the children some of the important items she carries every day, including her notebook and even her handcuffs. (Don't worry… thankfully nobody needed to try them on! 😉)

As part of our learning, Tania helped the children become "word detectives" by finding the letter P on her hat, vest, and shirt helping them recognise and read the word POLICE. It was a wonderful way to build early literacy while learning about an important community helper.

Tania also talked about the important role police officers play in our community and reminded the children that police are here to help people and keep us safe.

Our curious tamariki had lots of fantastic questions… including one that made everyone smile:
“Do you have a cat?"

The adventure continued outside where we explored Tania's police car, heard the whoop whoop of the siren, and even had the chance to sit in the back of the police car! There were plenty of smiles, giggles, and very excited faces.

A huge thank you to Tania for spending time with us and giving our tamariki such a fun, hands-on experience. We loved learning about the amazing work you do and discovering that police officers are friendly people who are always there to help. 💙

🩻 What an X-cELLent morning we had in Preschool!🩻

Today we welcomed Pip, a local radiographer, who gave us a fascinating glimpse into the world of medical imaging. The children discovered what a radiographer does, explored real X-rays, and learned how X-ray machines help doctors see what's happening inside our bodies.

The highlight of the visit? Pip took an X-ray of a Batman toy and even printed the image for us! The children were amazed to see Batman's "inside" and couldn't wait to add the X-ray to our light box for further exploration.

There were plenty of curious questions, lots of excitement, and even a few children who decided they might like to become radiographers when they grow up… or perhaps they were just hoping for X-ray vision!😉🦴

A huge thank you to Pip for sharing her time, knowledge, and passion with us. Experiences like these spark children's curiosity, build connections with our community, and inspire them to imagine all the amazing things they could be in the future.

Today we welcomed a very special visitor to our Preschool room –Peter and R2-D2! 🤖

The children's faces were filled with wonder and excitement as R2-D2 rolled into the room. They were full of questions, asking, “Is he real?" and even, “Does R2-D2 clean?"😂

Peter gave the children a special look inside R2-D2, showing them how he works. The children were also able to gently touch and feel R2-D2 and help Peter make music and sounds come from him, making it a truly interactive experience.

To make the visit even more memorable, R2-D2 brought along stickers for each of the children.

A huge thank you to Peter and R2-D2 for taking the time to visit Peekaboo and create such a fun, engaging, and magical experience for our tamariki. We loved having you and hope to see you again!

🦇 Today we welcomed Batman to Peekaboo Preschool! 🦇

What an unforgettable morning! Batman arrived in his incredible Batmobile and spent time chatting with the children, answering all of their curious questions, and even giving everyone a look inside his amazing vehicle.

The children were fascinated to discover that Batman even has his own New Zealand driver's licence! 🚗🦸

To say the children were lost for words would be an understatement. They were so quiet for the first few minutes, taking it all in! But once they started exploring the Batmobile and checking out all the gadgets and gizmos, they soon relaxed, their confidence grew, and the questions started flowing.

To make the visit even more special, Batman gifted every child a keyring to hang on their bag with the words "Not All Heroes Wear Capes." This couldn't have been more perfect, as "Not All Heroes Wear Capes" is our current preschool focus. It was a wonderful reminder that heroes come in many forms and make a difference through kindness, courage, and helping others.

A huge thank you to Batman for taking the time to visit us and create such a memorable experience for our tamariki.

🐾 Today we welcomed Lauren, Jane and Gizmo, an 11-month-old guide dog puppy, to Peekaboo!

The children were fascinated as Lauren and Jane showed us Gizmo's special working vest. Some of the children noticed it looked a little like the vest worn by Paprika with the Auckland Council who visited us recently—what a great connection!

One child asked about whether Gizmo has things on his necklace, giving us the perfect opportunity to learn all about Gizmo's collar. We discovered his registration tags, his special guide dog identification tag, and even his ID card! The children were amazed that dogs can have ID too.

Lauren and Jane explained how guide dogs help people who are blind or have low vision to travel safely and confidently. We also learnt that, because Gizmo is a working guide dog, he's allowed to go to places where most dogs can't... even the movies! 🎬🐕

Now the big question is... what do you think Gizmo's favourite movie is? 🍿🐾

Today our hearts were full as we welcomed the wonderful students from Rangitoto College into our centre to celebrate Matariki with us.

Our visitors taught our tamariki the Matariki Macarena and Hama Hama, shared a beautiful waiata, and filled our centre with smiles, laughter, and joyful energy. There was plenty of dancing, singing, and fun had by everyone!

Afterwards, we gathered together to enjoy a warm cup of soup—a special Matariki tradition that reminds us of the importance of sharing kai, spending time with one another, and celebrating the connections that make our communities stronger.

One of the most special moments was listening to the conversations between our tuakana and teina. Seeing our older and younger learners laughing, encouraging one another, and creating new friendships is exactly what Matariki is all about—connection, kindness, and learning together.

Our tamariki loved every minute of it. In fact, before our visitors had even left, they were already asking, "Are the students coming back tomorrow?" We think that says it all!
