PJ Day at Peekaboo! ๐ฉท๐งธ
As we wrapped up our Jammies for June collection, we celebrated by wearing our PJs to Peekaboo! ๐โจ
Our tamariki enjoyed a special day filled with movies, fairy bread, and warm hot cocoa โ the perfect way to celebrate a wonderful cause.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our pyjama drive. Your kindness and generosity will help keep children warm this winter. We are so proud of our little community for coming together and making a difference. ๐๐งฆ

๐ Happy Belated Birthday, Jihee! ๐
When Jihee came back from completing her final practicum, we finally got the chance to celebrate her birthday together!
We are in awe of how you have juggled your studies, being a wonderful mum, and being an incredible teacher all at the same time. Your dedication and hard work are truly inspiring.
You are always willing to learn, take on new challenges, and your love for our tamariki shines through every day. Your caring, calm, and nurturing nature makes you a natural teacher, and we are so lucky to have you as part of our team.
We hope you had a wonderful birthday and are so proud of everything you have achieved. Here's to celebrating you and all your amazing accomplishments! ๐โจ

๐พA huge thank you to Auckland Council and Paprika, the star of the show! ๐ถ
Today our tamariki had a wonderful visit learning all about how to stay safe around dogs. Paprika looked very smart in her working vest and even matched the children in their hi-vis vests! ๐ฆบ๐
The children learnt some very important safety tips, including:
๐พ Always ask the owner if the dog is happy or grumpy before patting them.
๐ณ Stand as still as a tree if a dog comes running towards you.
๐คฒ Pat dogs gently on their chest rather than reaching over their heads.
We also got a special look at the council ute and saw how dogs are safely loaded into the back, which the children found incredibly exciting!
A big thank you again to Auckland Council and beautiful Paprika for such a fun, engaging, and valuable learning experience. The children absolutely loved meeting their four-legged teacher today! ๐พ

๐จ๐ Messy Play Fun at Peekaboo! ๐๐จ
Over the past few days, our tamariki have been enjoying a variety of messy play experiences. From squishing and squeezing to pouring, mixing, painting, and exploring different textures, there has been plenty of hands-on learning happening throughout the centre!
Messy play is a regular part of life at Peekaboo and provides wonderful opportunities for children to explore their senses, develop creativity, strengthen fine motor skills, and make sense of the world around themโall while having lots of fun.
It's always amazing to see how differently each child approaches the same experience. Some dive straight in with both hands, while others take their time observing before joining the fun. Every approach is valuable, and every exploration is a learning opportunity.

A royal high tea was in order as we celebrated the Kingโs Birthday last week ๐
The children enjoyed delicious treats while sharing lots of thoughtful discussions about where the King lives, why he wasnโt visiting us today, and where the Queen might be! ๐ฌ๐ง
As we chatted about birthdays, many of the children were quick to point out that birthdays usually mean cake. We wished the King a very happy birthday and decided that perhaps next year we should have cake too โ after all, thatโs what birthdays are all about according to our tamariki!
To continue the celebrations, the children got creative making their very own colourful crowns fit for kings and queens.

Kia ora whฤnau,
Throughout June we will be supporting Jammies for June by collecting new pyjamas to help children in need stay warm this winter. We are proud to be supporting Dame Valerie Adams and the Middlemore Foundation as they work towards warming up winter for 25,000 children.
We would love your support by donating new pyjamas (all sizes welcome). Donations can be dropped off at the centre from 1 June โ 26 June 2026.
Please also feel free to share our poster with your workplaces, friends, and family โ the more people who hear about it, the more children we can help keep warm this winter.
Thank you for helping us teach our tamariki about kindness, caring for others, and supporting our wider community. Every contribution, big or small, can make a difference

๐Moo-ve over everyone... our little farmers and mechanics were busy today!
Our tamariki had so much fun building their own farm vehicles, carefully putting the pieces together and bringing their ideas to life. There was lots of thinking, creating, problem-solving and a few very serious "construction meetings" along the way.

Peek-a-boo... we see you!
Today our little explorers discovered that sometimes the simplest things bring the biggest smiles. Crawling through boxes, popping out to surprise their friends, and playing endless games of peekaboo had our babies giggling away.
Through play, our tamariki are building confidence, strengthening their little muscles, exploring space and movement, and creating joyful connections with others โ all while having lots of fun!
Who knew a box could hold so much adventure?

The heart of Peekaboo Pinehill is our incredible teachers โค๏ธ
We are so lucky to have a team of warm, caring and dedicated educators who bring kindness, laughter and passion into every day. Some of our teachers have been part of our Peekaboo family for over 10 years, with one amazing teacher reaching an incredible 15 years!
Their long-standing commitment means children have the opportunity to build strong, meaningful relationships and experience a real sense of belonging, security and connection. We are proud to provide more than childcare โ we create a place where children feel supported, valued and excited to learn every day.
Interested in learning more about our centre and what makes Peekaboo Pinehill such a special place for children to grow and thrive? We'd love to hear from you โ get in touch with our team to find out more or arrange a visit!

Today we celebrated Pink Shirt Day and our centre was a wonderful sea of pink! ๐
The children took part in a range of fun activities throughout the day, including painting paper t-shirts pink, creating special necklaces to wear, and making โkindness donutsโ using shaving foam and glitter. There were smiles, laughter, creativity, and lots of meaningful conversations.
Most importantly, we spent time talking together about kindness, inclusion, and celebrating how everyone is different and unique. We explored and named our feelings, talked about ways we can be kind to others, and discussed how our words and actions can help everyone feel safe, valued, and included.
Pink Shirt Day is a day that promotes kindness and stands together against bullying. It encourages us all to create communities where every person feels accepted for who they are. We loved seeing our tamariki embracing these important messages through play, conversation, and creativity.
Thank you to all our families who helped make the day extra special by dressing in pink
