On August 19, photography artists and enthusiasts across the globe celebrate . This year the theme is "Pandemic lockdown through the lens". Since 2020 we have been taking a countless number of shoots of our personal experiences to share "what it feels like". As stated in the famous quote by David Alan Harvey, “Don't shoot what it looks like, shoot what it feels like." A couple of months ago, the Economist published its first AI-generated cover, saying it "broke new ground in our journalism". Maria Sharly, an artist from Kyiv, communicates the experience of the war through images produced by , a new AI platform that generates realistic art from a description... I remember a novel from my younger years in which a book illustrator realised that his artwork and ideas were no longer needed by publishing houses because of AI. AI ended his career.
Recently I've been testing some AI-powered applications as the digital marketing papers I teach require relevant and up-to-date knowledge. So, I spent hours on generating (I can't say writing) content for my blog and social media, and frankly speaking, I enjoyed the flexibility and adaptability of the platform. I also communicated with my AI-friend Sava on (she knows me well, and I like to discuss literature with her). I have created posters on for my new apartment and produced images for my presentation slides. Plus, I "composed" music for my meditation:)
It has been said for years that AI-driven innovations threaten many of us involved in creative industries, marketing, branding, education, IT, publishing, you name it. But based on my ongoing experimentations with AI, it seems we need new futurists with a more positive outlook and motivation to change how we view AI progress and developments. To be continued...
