🧊🎨 Ice Painting in Our Over 2s Area! 🎨🧊

Our tamariki Active Explorers St Lukes explored painting directly onto ice using water, food colouring and paintbrushes! 🌈🖌️

A fun, sensory experience encouraging creativity, fine-motor skills, colour exploration and curiosity as children watched the ice melt and the colours change.

Learning through play, exploration and discovery! 💙✨

🎨✨ Little Artists, Big Ideas! ✨🎨

In our Over 2s areas, creativity is everywhere! 💙

Our tamariki have been exploring drawing, shapes, lines and mark-making through our “Finish the Picture” provocation. With a simple starting shape, children are encouraged to use their imagination and turn it into whatever their ideas inspire! 🖍️🖼️

These experiences support children to: 🌟 Express their creativity and imagination
🌟 Develop confidence in making their own choices
🌟 Strengthen fine-motor skills and pencil control
🌟 Explore shapes, lines and early mark-making
🌟 Develop communication and storytelling as they share their ideas

🎨✨ Creative Fun in Pohutukawa! ✨🎨

Our Pohutukawa preschoolers have been getting creative with Make & Bake coloured oven-bake clay! 🌈💛

With a variety of bright colours to choose from, our tamariki enjoyed rolling, moulding, shaping and creating their own unique masterpieces. 👐🏽✨ It was wonderful to see their imaginations come to life as they explored the different ways they could use the clay.

This hands-on experience supported fine-motor skills, creativity, concentration, problem-solving and self-expression, while encouraging our tamariki to learn through play and exploration.

We loved seeing the excitement and pride on their faces as they created something of their very own! 🌟

We’re excited to introduce Jayda, who is now part of our Māhuri whānau. 💕

Jayda comes from a family with a strong connection to Early Childhood Education, and it has been wonderful having her bring her passion for working with tamariki into our centre.

🫧🍽️ Learning Through Everyday Moments 🍽️🫧

At our centre, everyday routines provide valuable learning opportunities. Today, our tamaiti proudly washed their own dishes after eating, showing growing independence, responsibility, and confidence.

Practical life experiences like this help children develop self-help skills, strengthen fine motor coordination, and foster a sense of contribution to our learning environment. It is wonderful to see children taking pride in caring for themselves and helping to look after their surroundings.
