Netsafe has created the below Digital Guardian Guide and we thought this would be useful for some of our community.
A message from Netsafe:
Being online is a normal part of life for young people, but it doesn’t always come with an instruction manual for whānau.
That’s why we created the Digital Guardian Guide, a free online resource designed to help parents, caregivers and trusted adults feel more confident navigating the digital world with young people.
There is also an upcoming webinar:
Live Webinar : Navigating online safety for teens and tweens
20th May @ 7:00pm
Join Netsafe for a free live webinar exploring practical tips, tools and support to help tweens and teens navigate online experiences safely and confidently.
As young people begin exploring digital spaces more independently, the role of parents and caregivers shifts from managing settings and parental controls to guiding conversations, trust and connection.
Find out how our new Digital Guardian Guide platform can help, as young people begin to explore digital spaces more independently and the role of parents and caregivers shifts toward coaching and supporting through kōrero and connection, more than settings and parental controls
Topics include:
Online safety conversations
Social media and gaming
Tools and support for whānau
