Oncology Interest Group Newsletter.pdf 21/11/2021

Kia ora everyone!

It has been quite a whirlwind of a year with lots of uncertainty, but on behalf of the Oncology Interest Group, we would like to thank you for the continuous support you have given us. Although we didn't get to execute all that we had planned for this year, we were still lucky enough to pull off some successful events such as Careers in Oncology and Basket of Hope. We hope that you have enjoyed our events and will continue to be a part of our exciting club as it continues to grow.

Thank you to all of you that have supported us, whether as a speaker, participant, or attendee and we hope to continue working with each of you in the future! To sum up the year, Onc has put together a newsletter outlining our events this year, our executive team, and some recent oncology news.

Take care and have a lovely summer break!

Thanks,
Oncology Interest Group

Kia Ora!

Onc has some exciting news to share with all our members! We are working to coordinate with the University of Auckland’s Centre for Cancer Research to bring you more opportunities to get involved in the field of cancer research.

This will involve invitations to cancer research related events, workshops, and networks hosted by the Centre for Cancer Research, opportunities to network with leading researchers, and organisation of events together with them to increase interest in the field of oncology. Onc has previously been focusing largely on clinical oncology, but we hope to branch more into the research field for our aspiring researchers, especially since we know that cancer research is a rapidly evolving field of study.

Fill out this survey to directly be a part of their affiliation and join their mailing list: https://forms.office.com/r/ZWdTEv1uh2

We hope you’re just as excited about our collaboration with them as we are, so keep an eye out for more information!

02/08/2021

Kia Ora everyone! We hope everyone is healthy and well.

Between Tuesday 3/8 to Friday 6/8 Onc will set up the Basket of Hope outside lecture room 505-011 from 11-2pm. At our stall you can write small heart-felt messages to current cancer patients and their families. At the end of the week Onc will pass these messages onto patients and their families.

Please come along to help inspire hope in those fighting their battles!
