ππ What an exciting day at Peekaboo Forrest Hill! πΎ
Today we were lucky enough to welcome two Police Officers and their amazing police dog, Lex, for a very special visit.
The officers talked to us about what they do each day and explained how Lex helps them in their important work, including helping to catch bad guys and keep our communities safe. The tamariki were fascinated to learn about Lex's job and all the training he has completed to become a police dog.
Lex showed us just how well-behaved and clever he is by demonstrating some of his impressive tricks and commands. One of the officers even pretended to be a "bad guy" so we could see how quickly Lex could run and do his job. The children watched in amazement and cheered him on!
Thank you to our local Police team and, of course, to Lex for taking the time to visit us and share such a memorable experience. We loved learning about the important work you do and meeting such a special four-legged officer. ππΎ

This week we celebrated our beautiful friend Damhui with a special Pyjama Day farewell ππ
Although it is not goodbye, but βsee you soon,β there were still lots of cuddles, smiles, laughter, and special moments shared throughout the day. The tamariki loved coming dressed in their cosy pyjamas as we celebrated the wonderful friendships and memories made together at Peekaboo.
Damhui has been such a treasured part of our Peekaboo family and we know she will be missed by both teachers and friends alike. We are so grateful for the time we have shared together and cannot wait to welcome her back once she returns to New Zealand in the future π
See you soon Damhui! π°π·β¨

Today we proudly celebrated Pink Shirt Day π
At Peekaboo we believe in kindness, inclusion, friendship and standing up for one another. Our tamariki had a wonderful day dressed in pink, taking part in conversations and activities about being kind friends and creating a place where everyone feels safe, valued and respected πΈ
It was so special seeing our little ones embracing the message that kindness matters and that even small acts of caring can make a big difference π

π¨πͺ΅ Building Big Skills Through Carpentry at Peekaboo Forrest Hill! πͺ΅π¨
Our preschool tamariki have been busy exploring the exciting world of carpentry, using real tools in a safe and supervised environment. Through hands-on experiences like hammering, measuring, building and creating, children are developing so much more than just practical skills!
Carpentry helps strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem solving, creativity and perseverance. It also builds confidence as children see their ideas come to life and feel proud of what they have made. π
Most importantly, carpentry teaches our tamariki that with patience, practice and determination, they can achieve amazing things. π
We love providing opportunities for children to take safe risks, think creatively and learn through doing.
