These scholarships are set up to provide an opportunity for ECE and support staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge within their relevant education setting.

You can apply if you’re a current member of NZEI Te Riu Roa who is a teacher employed in ECE, a support staff worker working in ECE or a support staff worker employed by a primary, area or secondary school.

Te angitūtanga | The opportunity
The primary role of this position is to provide centre management in guiding the smooth operations of the early childhood centre, with three days in office and two days working directly with children and the teaching team per week to maintain your teaching hours and scaling your experience.
Unique to this Centre Manager role is the presence of a Professional Leader within the centre who will be working alongside you, sharing the load, by working the other two days in the office and three days working with the children and teaching team.

We are looking for a ‘team player’ who has a collaborative approach to management and leadership, someone who is committed to personal and professional development, with a cohesive attitude toward teamwork and collegiality. You will need to be stand-out in communications while providing a reassuring view of the ECE Profession in all your interactions when delivering exceptional customer services to our stakeholders. If you are looking for a new professional journey in becoming a part of our awesome ECE team and community, then we need you.

Essential:
- Must hold a relevant ECE Teaching qualification (Level 7) recognized in New Zealand
- Full Teacher Certification (Catergory 1) Tiwhikete Whakaakoranga Tūturu; or Full Teacher Certification (Category 2) Tiwhikete Whakaakoranga Pūmau from the Teaching Council.
- Full Drivers License
- Clear criminal record
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Successfully pass Safety Checking in accordance with Children’s Act 2015 and Ministry of Education GMA criterion
- Atleast 2 years of ECE Centre Management experience in a New Zealand centre
- Atleast 2 years preschool teaching experience

Desirable:
- Relevant Business Qualification (Diploma of Business or Higher)
- Intermediate level Te Reo me ona Tikanga
