Pacific Rainbow+ service and advocacy organisations have begun to form across Aotearoa-New Zealand. Join us at the F.I.N.E Ideas Fest Talanoa Symposium where in this talanoa session, representatives from Ngā Uri O Whiti Te Ra Mai Le Moana Trust (Porirua), Moana Vā (Ōtautahi-Christchurch) and Nevertheless (Heretaunga-Hawkes Bay), will story the development of their own local movements, and the importance of Pacific-led advocacy in the Rainbow+ space.

Are you passionate about fostering inclusivity and advocating for the Rainbow+ community? The Ministry for Pacific Peoples are looking for a full time Pacific Rainbow+ People’s lead based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.

In this position, you will play a pivotal role in providing guidance, support, and advocacy tailored to the unique needs and concerns of the Rainbow+ community, which will include developing, planning, and implementing the Ministry for Pacific Peoples' internal Rainbow+ strategy.

Join us at the F.I.N.E Ideas Fest Talanoa Symposium for a 2-day talanoa featuring prominent Pacific academics, writers, researchers, community leaders, and thinkers in individual talks and panel discussions on the 14th and 15th of November. This talanoa symposium celebrates the power of collective leadership, visionary thinking, community building and radical hope in the research and knowledge space.

Hosted by Fofonga for Pacific Research Excellence, Waipapa Taumata Rau – University of Auckland’s Pacific research platform and sponsored by the Pasifika Medical Association Knowledge Hub at Te Poutoko Ora a Kiwa, Waipapa Taumata Rau – University of Auckland’s Centre for Pacific and Global Health, this free symposium intentionally amplifies Pacific Rainbow, Q***r, LGBTQIA+ MVPFAFF+ voices in helping to build Pacific Rainbow+ research and knowledge in service of our communities through talanoa. All presenters and panellists are Pacific Rainbow+ scholars, creatives, community leaders, researchers, and community activators.

Fofonga for Pacific Research Excellence is excited to extend an invitation to all Pacific academics for our upcoming event Marsden Fund Talanoa Series.

This event is an invaluable opportunity for Pacific academics and PhD students who are interested in the Marsden fund, to come along and learn from past Pacific recipients at Waipapa Taumata Rau. The workshops will also include short presentations from Research support staff, followed with panel discussions, lunch and networking opportunities!
