Camp 2026
Our revisioned camp is taking shape - thank you to all those who have confirmed the information.
We do need to know if you are / are not attending either way - if you haven't completed the form or returned the hardcopy version please do so ASAP so we can finalise camp details and the programme.

Netball
Yesterday we had 5 teams represent us at the SWZ Tournament at the Auckland Netball Centre.
There were over 50 teams and it was a great day for all the schools and students in our wider community!
Everyone enjoyed the day in chilly but sunny conditions.
Final placings are not our for all teams but we acknowledge the Year 7 Girls team who finished 3rd overall.
Our Year 8 Boys A team finished 2nd overall and have qualifed for the Auckland Championships now!

Well done to all players, thank you to the coaches, umpires and supporters who encouraged the teams in the lead up to the tournament and on the day.

It is with deep sadness we farewell our Papa Jeff, our long standing school kaumatua, who has encouraged and guided us over past years. He has been a guiding star, a cheerful companion, a kind friend, a strong helping hand and we will all miss him.

Kua wehe atu a Papa ki tou tātou Atua i runga rawa. E noho pohara mātou tōu whānau.

Nō reira rere atu ra ki te pūtahitanga o Rehua, ma runga te tuara o Tawhirirangi, e noho ai.

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Papa Jeff Tukua, moe mai rā e Pa.

Beloved husband of Wikitoria Madge nee Pene cherished dad to Pita and Tracy, precious Papa to Noah and Nico.

A treasured brother, nephew, uncle, in-law, cousin, friend and general hoha to many.

Papa will be laying at home tonight (Tues) with his whānau.

5th Aug 10.30am to 2pm tomorrow for viewing Tipene Funerals, Onehunga at half hour intervals. Please contact Lucy to confirm group arrivals
6th Aug 11am arriving at Ngā Tai E Rua Marae (Tuakau)
8th Aug 10.00am service. Burial at Opuatia Urupā and return to marae for hakari.

Week 2 done!

On Monday we had a special assembly to celebrate the amazing achievement of one of our Year 7 students.
It was a big surprise as no-one in the school knew what the assembly was about.
Gunhar wrote a story and entered it into the Warriors Foundation League in Libraries writing competiton, and her story was the winner! 🥳
There were over 800 entries - what an amazing achievement - we are all so proud of you!
It was lovely to share the surpirse with Gunhar's whanau who we hid at the back of the gym - she had no idea until she turned around and saw them there. 🥰

Check out the prizes and what is going to happen with her story in the upcoming weeks! 💪

Presenting the award was Roger Tuivasa Sheck - who went to Papatoetoe Intermediate in 2005 and 2006, so it was awesome to welcome him back to the school after 20 years! He visited his old classroom and shared stories about falling in love with rugby and league on the school fields! 🏉

Gunhar is now working with editors, publishers and illustrators to bring her story to life in a book - we are looking forward to seeing the final product later this year - how cool to have a published author in our school! 📖
